Ranariddh on Friday announced that he was quitting politics for a second time after he was perceived as an obstacle to a merger between royalist parties.
The son of beloved former king Norodom Sihanouk agreed in May to combine his eponymous Norodom Ranariddh Party with Funcinpec in a bid to reinvigorate the royalist movement ahead of next year's general elections.
"I would like to announce, from now on, that I stop doing politics and will not take responsibility for any work and decisions made by the Norodom Ranariddh Party any more," Ranariddh said in a statement.
The prince did not provide the motive behind his decision to leave politics but it comes after senior officials from both parties accused him of standing in the way of a smooth merger, in an apparent clash of personalities.
Ranariddh was ejected from Funcinpec in 2006 for alleged fraud involving the illegal sale of the party's headquarters. He formed his own party shortly afterwards.
The prince was sentenced in absentia to 18 months in jail over the charges the following year and quit politics in late 2008 after receiving a royal pardon.
He returned to the political scene in late 2010, vowing to re-unite the royalists.
The prince's political career began with great promise when, in 1993 as head of Funcinpec, he won Cambodia's UN-sponsored election.
But he was forced to accept a co-prime minister -- the current premier Hun Sen -- who then ousted him in a bloody coup in 1997.

How about now? Hun Sen is the powerful man, having Monarchy or no Monarchy has no effect on the country anyway.

It does not have anything to do with his comment advising us to know/learn about Yuon. And furthermore, the guy at 1:15AM did not say anything about your broken English or who is smarter than who. From what we readers read your reply you are stupid.
If you don't know about Yuon or how they talk behind Khmers where it is, search for it, you may learn something about their mentalities.

I am so frustrated with what is so called "Intelligence and/or Wise". I usually asked myself "What do Yuon have and I don't" or "why Yuon always ahead of Khmers..?"
I always do the search on Google. I typed "Vietnam? expansionism?" or Viet? genocidal? Cham? I just kept typing words mixing other words which I am trying to search for. I found, plenty of Viet Blogs. Some are using Cham name but pro-Yuon. I even exchanged e-mail with the Blog's owner. I wrote her or him in a professional level, no cursing or attacking, because I have to prove them that Khmers are intelligent and are rational people.
I said your blog calling for all Cham people to fight against Khmers for taking Cham land now Cambodia is not right.
I said "you are NOT Cham but Viet". The Blog's owner was mad at me like hell, and accused me of being racism against Viets. I then said "That racism game is old. you need to learn the real history so we may all have peace."
I enjoyed debating with them, and when I do I am well armed with proofs (links) and my languages I used are Scholars' student-like, not once I ever allowed myself to be tempted by anger or be tempted by their propaganda. I always calm and smoothly attacking my Opponents (Viets).
I like to learn about others not just my Khmers, to understand about their mentalities. Believe me, Yuon's mentalities are to get rid of us Khmers.

I enjoy reading Napoleon's wars. He was a great general in 18th century, except he was so stubborn, he did not listen to his good adviser. That was why Napoleon was defeated. But I always like Napoleon and General Patton.
For the 15th century ruler I like queen Elizabth I (daughter of Henry VIII). She was a female ruler and the most power woman on earth by that time. She was extreme intelligent spoke fluently 5-7 languages, she knew how to employed the right wise men to serve her. She defeated Phillip of Spain and destroyed all Spain war ships and a mighty war ship "Amanda" sunk into the sea. She made English the world richest and became an English Empire since her reign/rule.
I am a man but I admired this great ruler.
But one nation I've learned the most beside Cambodia is Vietnam.
I enjoy reading not only history, politics, religions, science, Philosophy, I explore more toward the unknown universe. Now I am chasing another topic "Restricted area 51" of Top Secret Military Base.

The International Court should also bring King Father, Norodom Sihanouk to court also because he was awarded the indepedence from French and he fooled the Cambodian people that he fought the war and won. He had the power to change and he did not.
The King Father Norodom Sihanouk was also ignorance and a liar by secretly let the VietCong (our enemies) stayed in Cambodia and he then told the world that Cambodia is Neutality and Independence. what's a liar.
Then the King Father was ignorance again and he let the Pol Pot (Samlot Sar) used him like a fool. His action caused 3 million death. He said he did not know while he learned it from Moa Se Tong during their Cultural Revolution. China got almost a billion of people and Cambodia got 7 million then. I can go on and on.
Please bring him to justice, after all he was useless.
