China 'willing to work with Indonesia' on maritime row [-Oops! China prefers working with Indonesia rather than Cambodia, the ASEAN chair!!!]

China's foreign minister said Friday his country was willing to work with Indonesia as an informal mediator to "maintain peace and stability" in the South China Sea, amid tensions with neighbouring nations over rival claims to the area.

"To maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea and in the region, China is willing to work with Indonesia," Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said in Jakarta.

He also said China was prepared to work "on the basis of consensus toward the eventual adoption of the code of conduct".

Foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) failed to move ahead on the issue at a regional ministers' meeting in Phnom Penh in July. The dispute prevented ASEAN from producing a joint communique for the first time in the bloc's 45-year history.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa has since pushed for implementation of the long-stalled code of conduct, designed to reduce tensions over fishing, shipping rights and oil and gas exploration in the sea.

"The very difficult issue of the South China Sea requires countries in the region, ASEAN and China to work closely," Natalegawa said.

"Having met the Chinese foreign minister, I'm assured that diplomacy is still on track."

China claims sovereignty over almost all of the resource-rich sea, which is home to vital shipping lanes, but the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei have overlapping claims.

The sad truth is that china doesn't respect Cambodia as they always said. Whoever think that china is a very close friend of Cambodia is really naive and gullible. They only time, and I'll repeat this, the only time china is a close friend of Cambodia with mutual respect is when china needs to use Cambodia for their own interest.

China is a great friend and the only friend Cambodia has.

This is a smart move - one stone kills to birds. By dealing with Indonesia as an informal negotiator, China:

1) helps Cambodia to show the world that Cambodia (ASEAN Chair) is not bought by China;

2) keeps the South China Sea as bilateral issues with Philippines and Vietnam, instead of allowing it to become a regional (ASEAN) issues, which the Philippines and Vietnames want.

This is what I don't understand about some hypercritical ASEAN countries even the so called experts accused Cambodia as being pro-China!

If Cambodia is pro-China how come I don't see Chinese military base in Cambodia! Now if those fucking hypercritical ASEAN countries want to point their fingers at Cambodia about being pro-China. They need to explain why they allowed the Super Powers to set up the military base in their countries.
