Critics of the government’s border demarcation policy with Vietnam should bring comfortable chairs to the National Assembly on Thursday, because Prime Minister Hun Sen plans to give a four-hour speech on the subject.
And according to the opposition, he won’t be taking questions.Tensions over perceived encroachment from Vietnam flared anew on June 17 when the govern-ment announced it would cede two unspecified villages to its eastern neighbour.
In response, SRP lawmaker Son Chhay wrote a letter to National Assembly President Heng Samrin, inviting Prime Minister Hun Sen to answer questions related to the plan.
And in a speech at the National Institute of Education last week, Hun Sen accepted the challenge.
“I asked for four hours to address the issue of border demarcation,” he said, adding that he could spend seven hours talking about it if necessary.
Cambodian independent analyst Lao Mong Hay said yesterday that the Constitution requires the premier or his representative to attend the National Assembly once a week and answer questions put forth by parliamentarians.
“Since 1993, I found that the premier attended for Q&A less than 10 times,” he said.

it would be very interesting to hear and listen to what the prime minister has to say about controversial border issues of cambodia. in any regime of any era, cambodia border issues have always been controversial and nerving and unsatisfactory, to be fair to the current admistration. it's the legacy of the french colonial era and some incompetent khmer rulers going back to the dark ages era of cambodia, you know. it's never an easy one with this issue all the time, i don't care who's in power when, the borders always a controversial one. i think there was good reasons for that if you know cambodian history well, really.
You silly Cambodian complain too much. There is peace and stability for Cambodia because of the great assistance from Vietnam, you people should be thankful. The Cambodia that you yearned for died years ago, the Khmer Rouge effectively destroyed it. The Cambodia of today - the vibrant, successful, and stable country that you see, exists as the results of the heroic sacrifice made by Vietnamese for Cambodia, thus Cambodia will forever be part of Vietnam.

The world did not left a void as you stated about Cambodia. Richard Nixon asked then, King Sihanouk if Cambodia needed any assistance from the US. It was King Sihanouk who blatantly rejected the offer from Nixon.
