The body of King-Father Norodom Sihanouk will be sent back to Cambodia from Beijing on Wednesday afternoon, Prince Sisowath Thomico, Sihanouk's personal assistant, said Monday.
He said that, as scheduled, Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen will bring the body of King-Father from Beijing to Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
"According to Cambodia's monarchic tradition, the body of the King-Father will be exhibited for 3 months at the Royal Palace before being cremated in order to give chance to peoples to pay last respect to him," the Prince told Xinhua over telephone.
Government spokesman and information minister Khieu Kanharith wrote in his social network Facebook Monday that the official mourning period for the King-Father will be held for a week from Oct. 17-23 when the body of the King-Father reaches Cambodia.
Sihanouk died at 1:20 a.m. early Monday (local time in Phnom Penh) due to natural causes in Beijing Hospital of China, said a government statement announced by the state-owned National Television of Cambodia on Monday.
Born on Oct. 31, 1922, Sihanouk reigned Cambodia from 1941 to 1955 and again from 1993 until his voluntary abdication on Oct. 7, 2004 in favor of his son, the current King Norodom Sihamoni.
He suffered from various forms of cancer, diabetes and hypertension and had been treated by Chinese doctors in Beijing for years before his death.
Sihanouk wrote in a royal letter in January, 2012 that he requested his body to be cremated instead of being buried and his ashes to be put in an urn, preferably made of gold, and placed in a stupa at the country's Royal Palace.

Burn his body over there (China). Don't bring back to Cambodia. He was a Traitor to Khmer people. The Khmer people have suffered enough by him. He did not respect even his own mother. He was an evil king . He should be alive until he can serve his punishement in the Khmer Rouge trail. Please don't forget he was the person who killed Lok Protean Sam Rainsy's father.

I am not a Sihanoukist, nor a well educated person but your comment is not beneficial for the SRP because your say is: personal,
non professional, not profound and logistic, and causing more repelling from SRP participation. Sihanouk is good more than bad. You should study more and regroup your political idea.

King Sihanouk's body should be burned to ash in GINA, his soul is in GINA. The king who think GINA is home sweat home, he hate cambodiA, IF HE LOVES CAMBODIA, HE SHOULD STAY AND DIE IN COUNTRY. This guy was trying to stay away from the reality he did to khmer people.
he should lives and die in Cambodia if he is a real king of Cambodia, not just to come for having fun and going back to Beijing when the country is in deep shit.
