Mam Sonando was accused of raising an army to overthrow Hun Sen. He was friendly to Hun Sen's espionage named Soun Serey Ratha.
Hun Sen has all troops, guns and power but why he needs to be feared?
Sourn Serey Ratha has lured a few Khmers at oversea to join him. They're not arrested, except Mam Sonando. Because of his popularity in Cambodia.
Hun Sen is a tyrant, and "Only tyrants need fear tyrant killers."
This famous phrase I quoted from Brutus spoke to his biological father Caesar.
"Only tyrants need fear tyrant killers." means that all the "tyrants" have always had one greatest Fear that another "Tyrant" will kill them.
But Mam Sonando is no tyrant nor he has power or army not to mention he has a gun. He may have a knife to cut fruits or meat, yes, of course.
The CPP members in the US I spoke to told me "Mam Sonando was trying to raise an army to over Hun Sen government" which is impossible, but Hun Sen said so, and so they believed him, because they are members of CPP.
