Opposition Election Boycott Would Deny Credibility of The Winner

October 20, 2012

Sam Rainsy's opinion on a possible election boycott as published in The Cambodia Daily, October 19, 2012

OPPOSITION ELECTION BOYCOTT WOULD DENY CREDIBILITY OF THE WINNER

Reports that opposition parties could boycott the next national elections, "Opposition Parties Threaten to Boycott Next Year ‘s Elections" (The Cambodia Daily, September 26), caused various reactions from civil society.

Koul Panha, director of the Committee for Free and Fair Elections, said that a boycott by the opposition parties would have a negative effect on the elections, and that "even the CPP would get a less credible result." In fact, any election in 2013 without the participation of the Sam Rainsy Party and the Human Rights Party – which are merging under the banner of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) – would be meaningless.

Cambodia’s political landscape has dramatically changed over the past few months. There are now only two competing political blocks: the ruling CPP and the opposition CNRP. No other party is likely to get any representation at the National Assembly at the upcoming polls. If we translate the plummeting votes they obtained at the June commune elections into National Assembly seats, the two small royalist parties aligned with the CPP – Funcinpec and the Norodom Ranariddh Party – stand to lose the four parliamentary seats (out of 123) they now have.

This leaves only the CPP and the CNRP. There can't be a two-party race if the two parties don't take part.

The CPP’s inevitable landslide victory in the event of a boycott would be just as meaningless as that achieved on September 23 by the ruling party in Belarus.

The communist-type government there left the democratic opposition with no option but to boycott the elections after it imprisoned opposing politicians and created criminal records to prevent others from standing.

Dear: H.E. Son Chhay

We're greatly disappointed in you for distorting the true fact regarding who's the real father of Srok Khmer Independence. You and your colleges know full well it's Lork Son Ngoc Thanh not former King Norodom Sihanouk. Are you refusing to acknowledge Lork Son Ngoc Thanh because you fear Hun Sen or because Lork Son Ngoc Thanh is a Khmer Krom?

In addition, on your KRP Party radio program aired on 8-10-2012, you misinformed your listeners that Lork Dap Chhon is a Siam puppet and Khmer Issarak Leader. Lork Chhon was just one of Khmer Issarak regional leaders in Siam Reap Provence. He was not the leader of Khmer Issarak. It was Lork Son Ngoc Thanh.

Moreover, you fail to inform your listeners that...

* Before 1970, King Norodom Sihanouk personally put hundreds of innocent Khmer to death. He accused them of being a Communist or CIA agent - like Lork Sam Sary (Lork Sam Rainsy's father).
* King Norodom Sihanouk was a Socialist and the only head of state to attend Ho Chi Minh's funeral- against the wish of his advisers.
* King Norodom Sihanouk supported the Communist Youn Hanoi and the Viet Cong by giving them sanctuary on Khmer land and provided them with ammunition and supplies - which resulted in the US bombing of Srok Khmer and killed over 200,000 Khmer civilians.
* King Norodom Sihanouk asked prachichun Khmer to join the Khmer Rouge in the jungle or Marquis - after he was overthrown in March of 1970 via Red China radio.
* King Norodom Sihanouk was the Khmer Rouge leader in exile from 1970 to 1976. He helped the Khmer Rouge win the war in 1975 and gave rise to the Killing Fields - which nearly 2 million Khmer lost their lives.
* King Norodom Sihanouk turned down a peace negotiation offers from the UN officials, US officials - Dr. Henry Kissinger, Lon Nol, Lon Boret, and so on
* King Norodom Sihanouk was tried in 1979 by the People Republic of Kampuchea (PRK) and sent to death in absentee.
* etc.

It's bad enough than Hun Sen and his CPP gang are trying to manipulate history, you shouldn't do the same. Prachichun Khmer (especially our youths) need to be better inform and not lie to.

PS - H.E. Chhay, you should clean your image and reputation by being truthful to prachichun Khmer and give back the $10,000 US dollars that you took from Hun Sen in 1997. Moreover, stop being a coward and stand up for what you truly believe in.

Mr Sam Rainsy is right about the elections without competitors. So does he have any guts to boycott the 2013 elections?

After knowing that PM Hun Sen is unimpressed with his recent letter to intervene for his return back to Cambodia, a convicted criminal Sam Rainsy has another trick is threatening to boycott the election.

Sam Rainsy, you can screaming as louder as you like, the government will never care about you. Boycott the election or not, it is your choice. However, next year election will definately take place on 28 July with or without the opposition party.

Hey Bullshitter @8:55 AM,

We know how said such things to fool anyone who are clueless. How much longer are you telling the lies and great the fight among Khmer/Cambodian people? Let's say, you pretend to be Cambodian/Khmer to fight Khmer/Cambodian people and show the world folks where are so busy to make a living, doing business, surviving to bring food on the tables and feed their families and kids.

What is your purpose of your comment or message that you posted on here to fool anyone or any Khmer people who are gullible or clueless about your trick?

So, stop bullshitting and talking nonsense or being such a smart ass. We know how you play the games to fool low educated Khmer people who were oppressed by your CPP Officials (Yuon/Vietnamese hiding their faces in CPP regime).

Mr. Son Chhay is a very good and honest Khmer/Cambodian citizen and he has devoted his life to help serve every Khmer victims of CPP and a good leader of SRP (now a part of CNRP).

Dear Mr.Khmer Yeurng

In responded to "Hey Bullshitter @8:55 AM,"

I enjoyed reading your comments alot and you wrote very well. However, in this 8:55 AM, I believed that you were "wrong".

Mr. 8:55 AM comment about our leaders were right. I believe it was "not" appropriated for you to accuse someone else that are different than you as "Yuon" or "CPP".

Mr. Mr. Son Chhay has done "great" things and also "bad" thing also.

Thanks.

11:26 PM,

We understand, but please stop accusing the Mr. Son Chhay that he accepted the bribe. If so, then prove it. He is trying to help and do good.

We don't want to see the break-up within Khmer folks in the opposition parties. Since HRP and SRP merged, we do not want to see any break-up or accusation within their own group.

Look, we want Khmer folks to be united as one as the fall of CPP has begun. If the Khmer members of CPP are sick and tired of the political games and oppression of corrupted CPP officials (Yuon/Vietnamese government puppet) and the uneducated Hun Sen (Vietnamese/Yuon puppet/slave), then Khmer/Cambodian supporters of CPP will join with CNRP. Together to fight for the sake of Khmer nation, together we will win.

We don't want to argue with you, but you need to understand why we have done such the response to 8:55 AM.

So, where do you get the ideas about Mr. Son Chhay? So, prove it.

So, Khmer/Cambodian folks should be aware the old and new tricks of Yuon/Vietnamese folks who are still master-minded and playing the tricks again and again. Khmer/Cambodian folks should learn.

It is very sad that some/many Khmer/Cambodian folks are still fooled and clueless.

Mr. Sam Rainsy is confused. So which party is he the president? I was aware that he has stepped down on 28 September 2012 as president of the Sam Rainsy Party to lead CNRP. Why he is the president of both parties? Cambodian election law does not allow that!

And according to Cambodian parliament, he is not longer MP. Why he still claims that he is an MP?

Confused politician!

8:38 AM, you are confusing yourself. You still talk nonsense. Also, you are considered as evil Yuon/Vietnamese born in Cambodia.

Any blogger who talked or talks like that will be considered Yuon/Vietnamese (born in Cambodia and speak Khmer languages). We need to keep an eye on this evil Yuon/Vietnamese.

It does not matter if this blogger claims to be Khmer based on the comments that we sense so well.

Wish this blogger would be tracked with IP address and located this blogger a place to stay.

Since Cambodia's network (Telecomm, Internet and wireless network are controlled by evil Yuon/Vietnamese bastards and bitches) has been provided by toxic/communist telecommunication of Vietgook/Yuon, we should pay the hackers to track IP address and destroy or disable their network communication or telecomm completely down the road.

USA and EU or UN will be happy to see the fall of Communist Telecommunication in Yuon/Vietnam, evil thief nation.
