A reliable source indicated that government officials warned two US-based radio stations broadcasting in Khmer with legal measures. The warning took place on Wednesday 10 October 2012.

The warning took place in front of RFA and VOA representatives under the presence of US embassy spokesman. The meeting was held behind closed doors in Phnom Penh [at the Council of Ministers].

An anonymous source indicated that a ban is set on distribution of information regarding the content of the meeting. However, government officials from the Council of Ministers, from the Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, an academician [Ros Chantraboth] and Pen Samithy – president of the Club of Cambodian Journalists – told representatives of the two radio stations to show the level their professionalism and their stance in their mission in Cambodia. They also indicated that the two US radio stations should talk more often about positive aspects of the government.

The anonymous source added that government officials focused on scolding RFA for lack of professionalism, even though they said that VOA is more advanced on this issue.

However, government officials encourage both stations to revisit their level of professionalism and to make corrections. If there is no change “to shed positive light [on the government]”, then legal measures will be meted out.

Shawn McIntosh, spokesman for the US embassy confirmed that the US provides financial support to both radio stations as they both bring numerous advantages to the Cambodian people. Furthermore, the two stations are popular among the public and they encourage freedom of expression and democracy.

A government that threat civil war if it looses power? a government that kill activist? a government that is hiding under democracy? a government that has a dictator with a fake name of Prime Minister? A dictator of more than 35 years in office? do i need to go on?

really cambodia? You have no clue how stupid you look each time you bark.
