Sos Math's songs are more complicated to sing/play (musically speaking) as compared to those of Sin Sisamouth, according to some khmer old-timers [not to confuse with alzheimer].
What is you take on that, School of Vice?
BTW, I personally can't tell a G major from a B minor, okay? So please forgive me for that. And, since I don't have any just yet, thanks a bunch for your Golden Memories!
After 10 days of the arrival of Brigade No. 5 (his Brigade), special Unit no. 28 and other units, these elite soldiers started full offensively against the Vietcong and KR who surrounded Kg. Chhnang from all direction. At that time Kg. Chhnang had just only 5 Km2 for people & soldiers to survival. In 4 Days of the offensive from Brigade No.5, special Unit No.28 & another units, the Vietcong & KR were killed more than 1800 men on the spot and all areas was captured bak 100 pct from Phnom Krank Dey Meas till Srok Bori Bo. Every where were lying the deaths of RK & Vietcong. And that was the last defeat of Vitcong & KR untill Khmon Penh was falled down in 17 April 1975.
You put an interesting question to School of Vice. I said 'interesting' not because I know anything of musical composition or arrangement, but it so happens that having discovered these songs of his a few days ago it struck me just how distinctive and melodious his songs are. They certainly are perfect mediums for themes of loss and patriotism in his own time which he composed and expressed through lyrics flawlessly in my humble opinion. I'm not surprised that he dad enjoyed nationwide fame at the time, and that many people today prefer his songs to many other by Khmer singers.
I understand Sos Math was an ethnic 'Khmer Islam', and if so he is or was another Khmer Islam among many others who have [had] served his country honourably and courageously. I had not known, however, that he was in the army all this time until listening to these interview clips.
May his soul and those of his contemporaries who sacrificed their lives for their motherland and endured all manners of privation rest in eternal peace. We definitely need more of their valiant patriotic spirits today...
Thank you so much for this issue. Yes, we're were in Khmer republic and patriots and always against Youn Communist & KR. At that time there were so brutal to kill innocence people. MR Sos Math was one of our Khmer hero who was protector our Khmer blood against communist. I can confirm you clearly that the communist in Kg. Chhnang province at that times was weak, without Sihanouk belled from Peking, Khmer Rouge & Vietcong would never winned the Lon Nol soldiears at all.
Or Kun Lok P-AUN School Of Vice , Love Lok Sos Math 's songs the uncommon valor of our Khmer Republic soldiers and Khmer People fighting so hard bravely to protect from the aggression of the North Vietnamese ,Vietcong, Khmer Rouge who fully were supported by our Late Great King Father .
4:49AM Music is music theory is the same, it's complicated to you because you know nothing about music! Sos math song not any extraordinary different than the other, it's the same principle. it's just you don't know any music at all, it follows the same chord progression as dictated by the key and their scale! Give me a break would you !
