Kasit blasts govt over border row

The Yingluck Shinawatra government has not done its job properly and just blames problems, particularly the Thai-Cambodian border dispute over Preah Vihear temple, on the previous government, former foreign minister Kasit Piromya said on the sidelines of the TU-Asean Forum in Bangkok on Tuesday.

"If the Yingluck government has such very good relations with our neighbouring country (Cambodia), why doesn't it ask our neighbour to also withdraw from the International Court of Justice," said Mr Kasit.

He maintained his position that Thailand should withdraw its membership of the ICJ, which is to deliver its judgement in October on Cambodia's request for an interpretation of the 1962 ruling over the Preah Vihear temple.

Mr Kasit was foreign minister during the Democrat-led government.
