Thai Rajamangala University of Technology has signed agreements with two Cambodian schools to help to upgrade technical training and knowledge, a report said Tuesday.
The National Polytechnic Institute and the National Technical Training Institute of Cambodia will receive technical help from the Thai university. The memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed in Phnom Penh on Monday, the Phnom Penh Post reported.
Pich Sophorn, secretary of state of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training, spoke at the signing ceremony, saying that the training of Cambodian youths often was not suited to the market needs of the developing country.
"We have seen an increase in foreign direct investment, especially in the industrial sector," he said. "Students who have graduated from technical training institutes often get better job opportunities than university graduates."
No details were given on the value of the Thai-Cambodian agreements.
Numyoot Songthanapitak, president of Rajamangala University, said faculty and staff from all three schools will meet soon to design a better curriculum to strengthen the quality and target the demands of the market.
"The number in the workforce with technical knowledge is very small," said Mona Tep, director at the Society of Human Resource Management and Productivity. "We have to promote and strengthen it now, otherwise we will lose advantages in joining the economic integration in 2015."

Duh! This is 2013 already! So the 2 years of training in Thailand will somehow help Cambodia economically? The Siem have no interest in help Cambodia!
Who do Cambodian people blame when all the schools in Cambodia are AH HUN SEN schools! Why does it take so long and so late to admit that AH HUN SEN is suck?

Cambodia should have more private schools and colleges beside AH HUN SEN Schools to compete offering more choices in learning for Cambodian student!
