First,
he joined the Khmer Rouge in 1968 and then came to power in 1975.
Before he came to power, he brutally killed many Khmers, even slitting the throats of patients
in a Kampong Cham hospital in around 1974 when
he was a KR commander. During the KR regime from 1975-1977, before Hun
Sen defected to Vietnam, there were massacres in the area where he
controlled, the Eastern Zone, in around Kampong Cham. After he came to
power in 1979, Hun Sen signed about five treaties giving lands to
Vietnam- the 1979, 1982, 1983, 1985 treaties and the supplemental treaty
in 2005 and he jailed Mam Sonando, Kem Sokha and Rong Chhun for
criticizing the treaties.
From around 1982 to 1987, Hun Sen
created the K5 Plan that sent hundreds of thousands of Khmers to die by
starvation, by killings, by landmines and so on. Hun Sen did not want to
make peace in 1991, but because the Viet troops withdrew in 1989
because the international community and the Resistance fighters forced
them to withdraw, that's why Hun Sen agreed to negotiate and try to
share power. He lost the 1993 election and threatened with a coup, so
UNTAC, Sihanouk and Ranariddh agreed to share power. In March 1997,
Hun Sen was behind the grenade attack that killed 19 people and wounded
100 more in front of the National Assembly. He had an affair with
actress Pisith Pilika and his wife Bun Rany ordered someone to assassinate her in 1999. In July 1997 Hun Sen, the election loser,
mounted a coup against the election winner and killed more than 100
Funcinpec officials. Hun Sen cheated the 1998, the 2003, and the 2008
elections to win and he will cheat in this year's election again.
He
gave land to Viet and Chinese companies that saw many poor Khmers got
evicted and their houses burned down. We saw many Khmer heroes like Mam
Sonando, Sam Rainsy and Rong Chhun jailed because they tried to bring
democracy to Cambodia. We saw he ordered the burning and demolition of the
Boeung Kak Lake and Borei Keila residents' homes and jailed them because they
tried to fight for their land and homes.
As you can see, Hun Sen is not a Khmer Hero, he is a Khmer Zero.

Wrong, in 1968 Hun Sen joined Khmer Romdos which is former Khmer Viet Minh and Viet Cong like Heng Samrin, Chea Sim, So Phim, Rhos Nhim and many more who under command and trainded by Viet Congs in 1970s, between 1970s-1973 Vient Cong and Khmer Romdos ( fomer Khmer Viet Minh ) controled 85% of Cambodia.
Another group known as Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot when Viet Congs was in arms fingthing with Lon Nol soldiers Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot attacked Viet Congs and Khmer Romdos behind as Elizabeth Becker said in her book entitlbed Cambodia tears in Khmer edition.
After Viet Cong was force out of Cambodia in 1973 not by 1973 Paris Peace Agreement as many Cambodian undestand beside arms attack one side from Lon Nol solders other side from Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot solders known as Khmer Rouge.
After 1973 Khmer Rouge and Khmer Romdos joined together known as Khmer Ronakse.
So the Khmer Rouge between 1975-1978 majority were former Khmer Viet Minh known as Khmer Romdos in 1970s as Phillipshort said in his book entitled Pol Pot .
Once again in 1970s Khmer Rouge led by Pol Pot was fighting Khmer Romdos who under militry command of Viet Congs not cooperating with Viet Cong some Khmer udnerstand for more details you can read it from above book written by Philipshort.
More exmaple of Khmer Vient Minh who became Romdos in 1970s and became senior Khmer Rouge between 1975-1978 as follow:
1. Heng Samrin.
2. Chea Sim.
3. So Phim.
4. Rhos Ngim.
5. Norn Sourn.
6. Ney Saran.
7. And many more.
That why Heng Samrin was a military commander of Hun Sen and in 1968 Hun Sen joined Khmer Romdos who under military command of Viet Cong and Hun Sen did not joined Khmer Rouge led by Pot Pot as many Cambodian uderstand.

Khmer Roumdoss (Khmer Liberators) was a movement formed to liberate Cambodia from the American imperialism and the Lon Nol clique and to bring Sihanouk back to power. Khmer Roundoss was a name for the coalition of Khmer Rouge and Sihanouk's group, formed after he was overthrown. People living in the so-called "liberated zone" (Dombon Roumdoss) between 1970-1975 called themselves Khmer Roumdoss, not Khmer Krohorm (Khmer Rouge).
The Khmer Rouge Movement, on the other hand, existed since at least 1963 when Pol Pot, Ieng Sary, Nuon Chea and Son Sen fled to the jungle and formed the movement, termed by Sihanouk as Les Khmers Rouges or the Red Khmers.
Hun Sen himself declared that he joined the Khmer Rouge Movement in 1968 when he stayed at Neakavoan Pagoda in Phnom Penh as a temple boy to attend high school in Phnom Penh.
The area where Hun Sen fled to might be dominated by the former Khmer Issarak like Chea Sim, So Phim, Ros Nhim, Norn Suon, Ney Sarann, Keo Meas or Ta Mok, but certainly at that point they were not Khmer Roumdoss, they were either remnants of the Khmer Viet Minh or Khmer Issarak who morphed themselves into Khmer Serei (Free Khmer) when the Issarak Movement collapsed after Cambodia gained independence from France in 1953, with the likes of Dap Chhuon and Put Chhay defecting to Sihanouk's government beginning as early as 1949.

Only stupid and uneducated people think Hun Sen is a hero . He killed a lot of people before he came to power . He lost the first election but refused to step down because he got thousands of forces and then he killed again to keep himself in power. Please don't take us wrong. We never criticize people who genuinely trying to help rebuild our country to build schools, hospitals ect... But don't name it as if Hun Sen build it. It is the jobs of the ruling govt to do whether it is Hun Sen or someone else running the country. And it not meant Hun Sen alone cares about Cambodia. There are many caring Cambodians seeing mistakes of this govt and that is why we criticize. If the govt can't take criticism get out and let some one else bright do it. That is democracy... The CPP is supporting Hun Sen as PM in upcoming election and beyond is solely the internal matter of the CPP and of course the winner (CPP) will never interested any recommendation from the loser (CNRP). In fact, opposition shall change his leader because Sam Rainsy is a convicted criminal and cannot return to Cambodia. Indeed, in democratic world, they have never kept any opposition leader who lose the election three times in a row as Cambodian leader of opposition at all. This proves that without Sam Rainsy, opposition has no one who is better than a convicted criminal. What ashamed !!!

Wrong: Hun Sen allowed Viets to populate in Cambodia and sooner the Viets will have more numbers than Khmers. Furthermore he allowed more monks and more temples in Cambodia. Every evening near sun down, his men waiting to collect money from each temples. Those money transferred to Viets. Hun Sen stepped in gave land to Viets and sold every dust to Viets to keep his power. This is wrong for Hun Sen to commit treason.
Conclusion. Hun Sen is a Viets' hero not Khmers' hero.
