Comrade Hun Xen in his favorite Khmer Rouge attire |

Cambodian society at large is soul-searching and trying to figure out how to as a nation address war-crimes accusations against former Khmer Rouge commanders, some of whom are now in the government.
The ultra-Maoist Khmer Rouge regime of Pol Pot wrecked havoc across Cambodia when it ruled the country in what has gone down in history as the "Killing Fields" revolution of the period 1975 to 1979 when 2.2 million Cambodians perished.
The United Nations Cambodian war crimes tribunal that is to investigate and put on trial suspected war criminals, some of whom are positions of power in the government, barely has the sufficient capital resources in order to pursue all the allegations effective. Strikes have been held by members who went for over two month without pay. The European Union which is the biggest donor after Japan has called upon the Cambodians to come up with more funding for the war crimes tribunal. Cambodia has in turn stated that it has paid more than its fair share and accordingly called for bigger donations. (Deutsche Welle, March 8 2013)
Hun Sen the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the leader of the Cambodian People's Party has said he would be happy if the United Nations left his country. He is a major ally of China which supported the Khmer Rouge regime and was himself a Khmer Rouge fighter during Pol Pot's rule. He is an authoritarian ruler, meaning that in modern day Cambodia the political scene will directly clash with the accessibility and capability of any international court to investigate criminal cases of members of the government, who may have carried out crimes against humanity during the rule of the Khmer Rouge. (Reuters, March 11 2013)
Most Cambodians alive today lost a family member during that horrible and dark period of that nations history. Given the current political situation in their country they have their doubts that the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia, that was brought into being by an agreement with the Cambodian regimes and the United Nations, will succeed in bringing justice when it comes to those "most responsible" for the mass killings that remain alive today. Most of those suspected of carrying out atrocities during that period are believed to live out of the public eye in more rural areas of the country.

Yes, it is true that Hun himself was one of the KR leaders. He used to kill alot of VC and khmer (area-K5) people during the KR regime. This is one of the reasons why he doesn't like the UN to be involved or to interfere within the Cambodia court system, so that, it will be easier to cover up his crimes against humanity. On the other hands, the VC is willing to support him in a sense that, their aim is to take over Cambodia, just like they did to Laos, Champa, Khmer Khrom, Khmer Indigenous etc.
R VC is very deceptive kind of people. They told Kingta and Pot Pot not to be part of the US but be their allied and be saved than sorry. They promised Kingta and Pol Pot the world but sadly, soon to be discovered that they had been used. The VC used the tactic of 'killing two birds with one stone', that is 'khmers killed khmers'. By they time they knew it, it was already too late, by then, 2-3millions are already gone dead! because of one group accuse another of 'CIA' and 'KGB', and the killing starting from the roots of the most educated people living in the country.
Why? because they knew that, educated people are the main back bone of our society and without them, we can not go on. Therefore, 'the truth will always be the truth and the truth will always be revealed in the end' Gandhi. Anyway, please don't make the same mistakes, we got to wake now and we must do something about this issue before it is too late. Hun is in power for the last 30 years and it is time for him to go and let others have ago for once.
Hun needs to look at our neighbouring countries like how to run the nation and country. Mostly, they used the skills of comformity, unity, and collaboration. Just look at Yenluck and Abisith, they fought against each other and then, they settled and then, they move on!... whereas VN, Chinese, Japanese etc, they changed their leadership style all the times.
Therefore, it is time to learn and let go of your power before it is too late, 'learn from the past and you will see the future'. This time, make sure, don't let the outsiders get the benefit of us, our conflicts and our downfall. Because together, we can stand up tall and look up high, OK!
