John 19 (Relationship)

Sermon: Relationship (Dr. Rob Norris)

Complete Gospel of John

Jesus Sentenced to Be Crucified

19 Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they slapped him in the face.

Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews gathered there, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”
As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

The Jewish leaders insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. 10 “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”

11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

12 From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jewish leaders kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about noon.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked.

“We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

The Crucifixion of Jesus

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus. 17 Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth, the king of the jews. 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”

22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.

24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”

This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled that said,

“They divided my clothes among them
and cast lots for my garment.”[a]

So this is what the soldiers did.

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman,[b] here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

The Death of Jesus

28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. 30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jewish leaders did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35 The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,”[c] 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”[d]

The Burial of Jesus

38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders. With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.[e] 40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs. 41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

Trillions and trillions of prayers every day asking and begging and pleading for favors. 'Do this' 'Gimme that' 'I want a new car' 'I want a better job'. And most of this praying takes place on Sunday. And I say fine, pray for anything you want. Pray for anything. But...what about the divine plan? Remember that? The divine plan. Long time ago god made a divine plan. Gave it a lot of thought. Decided it was a good plan. Put it into practice. And for billion and billions of years the divine plan has been doing just fine. Now you come along and pray for something. Well, suppose the thing you want isn't in god's divine plan. What do you want him to do? Change his plan? Just for you? Doesn't it seem a little arrogant? It's a divine plan. What's the use of being god if every run-down schmuck with a two dollar prayer book can come along and fuck up your plan? And here's something else, another problem you might have; suppose your prayers aren't answered. What do you say? 'Well it's god's will. God's will be done.' Fine, but if it gods will and he's going to do whatever he wants to anyway; why the fuck bother praying in the first place? Seems like a big waste of time to me. Couldn't you just skip the praying part and get right to his will? [George Carlin, from "You Are All Diseased".]

The fact is, we all are being tested, it is known as 'free choice', you can choose to do whatever you want, you can either choose to be a good person or a bad one, and then, comes the consequences to it. Yes, God has a devine plan but you got to earn it e.g if you want to be a doctor, what do you do? 1) you have to study of by hard and you have to know every part of the human body and how it works vs not to become or just be a beggar...so god devine is through enrich of its enlightenment like, how much time you put and how much have you learned through the program.

Therefore, what you want and need is up to you. If you want a nice car, what do you do? 1) go to work to get some money and buy it or 2) you need to rob someone but the consequences, you might land in jail instead plus having a bad criminal record where it could ruin your life forever!.

So, why blame on god? my only concerned is, if god already know who we are and what we are capable then, why created us in the first place? e.g he knows us before even born or he knows what you are going to say before you even make a pray but yet why brought us forward and for what purpose?

The answer to this question would be, what god created can not be undone e.g sins of the parents e.g God created Adam and Eve and they both went on to reproduce their offspring, but can not be reverse accept everything is already set e,g time and its limitation e.g a journey of christ is like a woman being pregnant or time to grow and time to hearvest etc.

Conclusion
God has a plan and his plan is all about collecting the good seeds from the bad seed. who are good seeds and who are bad seeds e.g good seeds are those who follow the ten commendments (if you want something, you got to earn it) and the bad ones are those who do bad things like robbing and killing etc and the consequences, they ended up in jail and also denial access to heavenly seat etc.

Admit it that we Khmers are real bad people to the core. Not omly we are so bad, we are 99% evils.

Million Priests and most of them are highly educated and are good helping and dying with the poor like Francis of Assissi and this new Pope, except 2 or 3 of them who are gay.

Unlike them, our monks are dumb and are lazy. We learned from the Indian Guru who only beg for food and then meditate so they may reach hell or Nirvana somewhere.

Recently Khmer Abbot at Lowell caught having sex with his girl friend. Abbot at Maryland calling for sex,... Not only them, now most monks do, except a few good like Loun Savath, the political activist monk. Khmer monks this day are real evils. Why don't we see ourselves instead of others?

And this same 9:29pm/9:32pm is being possessed by preay kbal pram bei (Satin/Evil) completely.

This one 9:29pm/9:32pm cannot be freed from Evil, and cannot go to sleep.

If he or she looks at the mirror will sure see him/herself ugly evil where her/his face and body attached with K'dor everywhere. That one is absolutely EVIL.

Buddhism DESTROYED the Khmer Empire and turned Khmers to becoming Evils.

CAMBODIA no more. Khmer Nation is a dead nation in-spite of their struggling to be survived.

Khmers are being CURSED by Kings Soryavaraman I and Soryavaraman II who built Preah Vihea and Angkor Wat.

When Preah Rous (the living GOD after His resurrection 3 days) known by million Buddhists such as Tibet monks that Jesus Christ is Preah Se-Ar Metrey, some idiot mocking Him.

I heard my Mom said that she was told by her parents (my grand parents) said "Khom T-veu Bonn oy keuth toan Preah Se-Ar Metrey"

Now they witnessed seeing and hearing about Him. While Billions flocking to worship Him, a few Khmers mocking Him.

If they meditating and praying asking Him to show them the ways to see the Light (Freedom and Peace), they may find it, but continue to attacking Him, they will only suffer 'til their deaths.

You misunderstood about GOD forgives our sins even we do a horrible crimes.

Not like what you said. If human laws fail to prosecute the criminals, Heaven will. No one can run or hide from the mighty invisible judgement.

How GOD forgives our sins was written in the history of at least King David in the Bible.

King David committed such horrible sins. He slept with a married beautiful woman and then he sent her husband to die. But David later realized he sins, so he prayed and fasted every day. He cried for helps. God forgave David, but David first son that his new wife had with him died right after his birth (that was first punishment).

The 2nd punishment was his another son from his another wife raped his daughter from another wife (they both were half siblings).

The 3rd punishment his another son rose against him, and took Jerusalem. King David escaped. David went through so many sufferings, but he repent and had never stop praying GOD for helps.

With all his faithfulness and love for GOD, David was then rewarded a youngest son (Salomon) and returned back his Kingdom to him after he lost his many sons.
David wrote many prayers noted in PSALMS.

No one in this infinite Universe can run away from the punishments he or she created. They can run and hide from the laws of humans but not from GOD. The time comes then we are doomed.

Khmers were given a chance to rise again if they repent, but until now many of you are not only refused to repent but cursing and mocking Him.

He (Jesus Christ) is Preah Se-Ar Metrey that the Indian Buddha told Ananda, would come, and He is the Mighty One.

We Khmers can rise if we have GOD on our side, and it does not matter how Yuon can try to manipulate and kill us, they will never succeeded. But GOD is not on our side because we do not repent and not recognize Him. We abandoned Him, so He abandoned us.

GOD's Laws. If we want to pass the test, we must study to pass it. If we want a car we must have money to buy it.. so on.

His forgiveness for our crime if we asked and prayed for forgiveness is first punish us and second he will reward us but it depends on our crimes.

Many people misunderstood of GOD forgiveness and they mock around that is WRONG.

Like some idiots who tried to blackmail Einstein's words once said "GOD does not play dice with the Universe". Some said he does not believe GOD and some said he did so.

The facts are Einstein believed in GOD like many scientists before him. But many ignored and refused to admit that they too believe in Divine power, because they are afraid of confrontation should they TEST/Prove by scientifically, they will fail. Because No ONE can Test or prove the Mighty Divine power or invisible phenomenon through Scientifically test.
