KPNC's Declaration and Appeal

KPNC’s Declaration and Appeal

Dear Cambodian Compatriots:

Only three months are left for Cambodians from all walks of life, political stripes and parties from both inside and outside Cambodia to decide whether to survive as free, dignified, prosperous and happy Cambodians The alternative is to quietly accept the Vietnamese final blow resulting in horrific lives continuing on a fast track to extinction as a nation and leaving our Angkor pride behind forever.

We have absorbed serious abuses in the hands of Vietnamese and their agents for centuries. Strangely, the Vietnamese continue to complain to powerful government officials in many Western country capitals accusing their inflicted victims and referring to Cambodians as “barbarous people.” Those countries have wondered why there were so few Cambodians standing up against these accusations and rarely ask for their help to change the adverse conditions inside Cambodia. We must change and change quickly this kind of inactive and unhealthy attitude for the time is now running out on us. As deserving Khmers and proud descendants of Angkor Wonder from - all of us from around the world -Cambodia, Thailand, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the United States and Canada - we must stand up, and stand up now! for the survival of our rightful homeland

The Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) is now in the middle of organizing a legal street demonstration in Phnom Penh scheduled for April 24, 2013. Our goals are to demand the reform of election agencies at all levels, guarantee the election process and procedures as recommended by the U.N. Special Rapporteur Professor Surya Subedi and to ensure a free and fair election. The desired results will clearly reflect the Cambodians’ true choice for their next government
and their own survival.

We, at the Khmer People Network for Cambodia (KPNC), are very happy to diligently endorse the CNRP’s demonstration decision for Phnom Penh. Additionally, we decided to participate in similar demonstration planned and called for by our partners in front of the White House and the Department of State in Washington, D.C. on the same day. We also appeal to Cambodians in The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Thailand, South Korea and worldwide to timely (on the same day) stand up and organize similar demonstrations around the world to calling on humanity to help save our treasured homeland Cambodia.

We hope and wish that you hear our appeals and choose to act positively for our common survival. We are asking for Cambodia to run a free and fair election. As recommended by the UN Special Rapporteur for insurance of a free and fair election, Mr. Sam Rainsy must be allowed to return to Cambodia to fully participate in the election process. This appeal should be acceptable by all Khmers. Please choose life.

Long Live Cambodia! Long Live Democracy! Long Live Cambodian People!
