MobiTel, Smart Fight It Out Over Prices

With competition rife in Cambodia’s telecommunication market, two of the country’s largest mobile phone operators have engaged in a battle over prices and are at odds over the tactics being used to gain market share.

On Friday, the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) ordered all mobile phone companies to abide by a 2009 law that sets minimum prices for the cost of a call.

Smart, which the Malaysia-based firm Axiata Group Bhd owns, says the government decision is unfair to consumers and goes against the notion of a free market. But MobiTel, which is owned by the Cambodian conglomerate Royal Group, says Smart has offered deals so cheap it has engaged in unfair business practices.

If it was goods, it would be called price dumping. Price dumping means one company dumping their goods at a very low cost so that they can gain market share and in some case to weaken or to bankrupt their competitor (s) before they raise the price back again.

In Cambodia we need gov't control since for a healthy growth as long as the gov't is fair and care for long term growth.

When dirt poor Cambodian garment workers asked for a living wage and AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government resorted to preaching about FREE MARKET! The living wage cannot be done because of FREE MARRKET and for Cambodia to be competitive in the garment sector, dirt poor Cambodian workers must work as slave and prisoner! So here AH KITH MENG is complaining about FREE MARKET which endorsed for AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave government to make Cambodia more competitive!

Stop complaining and go blame AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave for his stupid FREE MARKET REFORM!

Cambodian business people are either crooks or they don't understand business. Price dumping is caused by market leaders to force competitors out of business. Smart Mobile is not a market leader. Mobitel is the leader thus it's not possible for Smart to be price dumping.

Smart has a more efficient way of doing business so they can afford to charge less. Mobitel is the old bicycle trying to catch up with the faster car.

It's senseless and comical to think HUN SEN and KITH MENG can offer help to Cambodia's future.

These people kill and rob $Billions and give back thousands as rice and water. Unfortunately the Khmer people and their thousand year tradition of worshipping kings and leaders has brought down the once mighty empire.

At the current rate Cambodia will become a province like of the ASEAN nations. And ASEAN will hang HUN SEN like SADDAM HUSSEIN, KADAFI, and OSAMA BIN LADEN.

I don't think HUN SEN will live past 2020. Five years after he dies no one will remember this Khmer rough, thief, traitor, and murderer.

Sometimes it's easier to die than to live under such tyranny caused by the HUN SEN mob and business leaders like KITH MENG, whom everyone knows made his money by killing his own brother in the hospital room in Australia. KITH MENG knows nothing about business and if he had not pulled the plug on his dying brother KITH MENG would be working in an Australian factory today making shoes and peanuts.
