When I visited the family of one of the workers who died, I was told that his foot was missing but he was already put in the coffin. Meanwhile, at the collapsed factory, rescue team was looking for the body of the foot.

The authorities delivered the foot to the family later.

Immediate and independent investigation must be conducted. Building code in Cambodia is rarely observed. Safety and security of Cambodia not on top of priority list for employers nor govt.

A representative of the factory came to the village to deliver the “first payment” of US$1,000 to the family. it is not just about compensation but a full investigation and action according to the law.
