Pro-Government Media Blank on Rainsy’s Return

By Kuch Naren - July 20, 2013 The Cambodia Daily
The hours of traffic chaos along Russian Boulevard, the return of opposition leader Sam Rainsy after almost four years abroad and the estimated 100,000 people who rallied in Phnom Penh on Friday did not make it to the nation’s television screens. As the human juggernaut of tens of thousands of young people noisily and boisterously accompanied Mr. Rainsy from the airport to Freedom Park for his first speech, state-owned TVK, as well as private, pro-government broadcasters CTN, CNC, TV3, TV5, TV9, Bayon TV and Apsara TV did not show(= zero hearing) what was easily the top news of the week.

Tens of thousands of Cambodia National Rescue Party supporters throng Phnom Penh's Freedom Park on Friday to hear party president Sam Rainsy deliver his first speech after returning from four years in exile. An estimated 100,000 people turned out to greet Mr. Rainsy, lining the road from the airport to the park. In his speech, Mr. Rainsy vowed to help write a new chapter in Cambodia's modern history. Goes to show how unbalanced and biased the news outlet are in Cambodia. This is a world news around the world. But to Cambodia this is kept a secret.

The news of a new chapter of Cambodia's modern history has been spreading insidiously even without the help of the pro-CPP TV stations!

Dictator anywhere is always afraid of the truth and the reality on the ground. We can use cell phones to share the pictures and spread the news as far away as possible.

You never know due to stress a Cambodian dictator may even die of a heart attack or stroke before the election. I am pretty sure he is quite worried and ponders his options.

The FUNCINPEC Royalists and their leaders make a fool of themselves with their short-term vision and greed by continuing to side with the CPP so they can lick the crumbs under the CPP dining table instead of siding with CNRP and sit at the table to enjoy their share of the food.

Siding with the CPP the monarchy exists without a real value representing only itself and by doing so it has chosen to die eventually. Siding with the CNRP the monarchy may not exist for now, but it will always exist in the heart of Cambodians and for that reason it will come back to life at the right moment.

Once again FUNCINPEC has made another fatal error in political judgement. Its leaders are certainly not bright at all!

King Father must have been so disappointed in his grave!

Pro-CPP media burying their heads in the sand, as usual.
