The Youth Perspective
I would like to thank everyone who has left comments on my blog, which has helped to make it a valuable forum for the exchange of ideas. A number of you have expressed concerns about the possibility of civil unrest during this post-election period. Last Friday, I met with members of my Youth Council, and they voiced similar concerns. It was clear from our discussions that they want Cambodia’s elected leaders to work together peacefully to resolve any election-related disputes in a manner that is credible with the Cambodian people.
I really enjoy the chance to engage directly with the youth of Cambodia.
Discussions with my Youth Council allow me to learn a lot about the perspectives of young Cambodians.
Finally, the Youth Council members told me about the importance they attach to their elected representatives embracing the democratic process, engaging in open policy debates, and working together effectively for the betterment of the country. They were very optimistic that, once all of the election disputes were resolved, they would see a more vibrant democracy able to deliver solutions that meet the challenges for furthering Cambodia’s development and allow Cambodia’s people to reach their goals and ambitions.
I think listening to the concerns of the youth is critical to keeping Cambodia moving forward.
Many thanks to the dedicated members of my Youth Council for a vibrant discussion and for providing me with the crucial youth perspective on developments and issues in Cambodia. These smart young leaders are clearly paying close attention to current events and looking to make a positive impact in their society. They are truly model citizens, and their energy and enthusiasm bode well for the future of Cambodia.

ជាតិចង់បាន ។
លោកក៍ជ្រាបស្រាប់ហើយ ពួកគណៈបក្សកាន់អំ
ណាចសព្វថ្ងៃ មានប្រាក់មហាសាល មានអំ
ណាចខ្លាំងក្លាដោយមានយួន និង ចិននៅពី
ក្រោយ ។ មិនតែប៉ុណ្ណោះ នៅមានពួកជនបរ
ទេសមកពីប្រទេសខាងលិចមួយក្រុម សីុឈ្នួល
ពួកគណៈបក្សនោះ ដើម្បីធ្វើការប្រឆាំងជាមួយ
ប្រទេសខាងលិចទៀតផង ។
ក្រុមមួយនោះ ជួយជ្រោមជ្រែង ជួយណែនាំ ផ្តល់
យោបល់ដល់ពួកគណៈបក្សកាន់អំណាចក្នុងការប្រឆាំងតតាំងជាមួយប្រទេសខាងលិចដែលប្រកាន់
ខ្ជាប់នូវលទ្ធិប្រជាធិបតិយ្យ ។ ពួកគណៈបក្សនេះ
ហ៊ានជេរ ហ៊ានប្រមាថកាតទាន ត្មះតិះដៀល និង ប្រឆាំងជាមួយសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក អង្គការសហប្រ
ជាជាតិ និង សហគមអន្តរៈជាតិវិញក៍ដោយសារ
ក្រុមនេះរួមជាមួយអំណាចរបស់យួន និង ចិន
ចេញ ។ ដូចពាក្យខ្មែរបុរាណបានពោលថាៈ
"ខ្មោចក្នុងឲដៃទើបខ្មោចក្រៅវាហ៊ានធ្វើ"។
ហេតុដូច្នេះ យើងខ្ញុំសូមសួរលោកថាៈ បើពួក
គណៈបក្សកាន់អំណាចនេះគេមានគ្រប់សព្វបែបយ៉ាងរបៀបនេះ តើយុវជនខ្មែរ ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋខ្មែរ និង គណៈបក្សជំទាស់ទាំងអស់ មានតែបាតដៃ
ទទេ មានតែឆន្ទៈ និង ទឹកចិត្តស្នេហាជាតិប៉ុណ្ណោះ
តើអាចធ្វើអ្វីបានដើម្បីផ្លាស់ប្តូររបបផ្តាច់ការនេះ
ចេញបាន ? ។ តើសហរដ្ឋអាមេរិក អង្គការ
សហប្រជាជាតិ និង សហគមអន្តរៈជាតិ មានវិ
ធានការពិសេសណាមួយដែលអាចជួយប្រទេស
កម្ពុជាឲមានការផ្លាស់ប្តូរបានដោយសន្តិវិធី ដោយ
មិនចាំបាច់បង្ហូរឈាម ? បើពួកនេះសាហាវយង់
ឃ្នង ព្រៃផ្សៃ ចង់តែក្រាញលើអំណាចអស់មួយ
ជីវិត ហើយ នៅបន្តឲកូនចៅថែមទៀត
នោះ ។
គណៈបក្សជំទាស់ និង ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋ គ្មានអាវុធ
យុទ្ធភ័ណ គ្មានកងទ័ព គ្មានអំណាច ដៃទទេ មិន
អាចបង្ករឲមានអសន្តិសុខបានឡើយ ។ ធ្វើអ្វី
ក៍ធ្វើតាមសន្តិវិធី គោរពតាមច្បាប់ យកច្បាប់ប្រ
ទេសជាធំដែរ មិនហ៊ានប្រើកម្លាំងបាយ ហើយក៍គ្មានច្បាប់ព្រៃប្រើដែរ ។
