Rachel Estée Sam and William Josiah Rubenstein are to be married Sunday
at the Boston Harbor Hotel in Boston. Rabbi Moshe Waldoks will
officiate, incorporating blessings in Hebrew, English, French and
Cambodian. On Saturday a traditional Khmer wedding celebration was held
at the Sunny Da restaurant in Lowell, Mass., that included a pairing
ceremony, during which ribbons representing blessings were tied on the
wrists of the bride and groom.
The bride, 25, is keeping her name. She is a manager at Global Health
Strategies, a public health consultancy in New York. She works primarily
on polio eradication and H.I.V. prevention. She graduated from Yale,
from which she also received a master’s degree in public health.
She is a daughter of Tioulong Saumura and Sam Rainsy of Phnom Penh,
Cambodia. Mr. Sam Rainsy is the leader of the Cambodian National Rescue
Party, the opposition party. From May 1993 to October 1994, he was
Cambodia’s minister of finance. The bride’s mother is a member of the
Cambodian Parliament from Phnom Penh.
Next week, the groom, 27, is to enter the Icahn School of Medicine at
Mount Sinai in New York. He graduated cum laude from Yale.
He is a son of Dr. Susan R. Gordon and Dr. Mitchell H. Rubenstein of
Brookline, Mass. The groom’s mother is an internist at the Brigham and
Women’s Physician Group in Chestnut Hill, Mass. His father is the vice
chairman for clinical affairs in the dermatology department at Brigham
and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Both are assistant professors at Harvard
Medical School.

The groom is a direct descendant of very high achieving parents, and the bride is also a direct descendant of very high achieving parents. In Khmer, it says, "Neang rot roke neak..." or A lady is a match with a gentleman. You know what I really wish for though. Congrats to them, I just wish the 2 daughters of Kem Sokha gets some recognition in here for their hard work with the CNRP, after all both of them gave up their comfort life style in the US and went down to Cambodia to help the CNRP.
Their are the Rabbinical Jews and their are the Messianic Jews. The Rabbinical Jews are Jews who thinks that the words of their Rabbi is more sure than the Word of their Bible. These are liberal Jews who tend to be on the left of their political band wagon.
The Messianic Jews are Jews who believed in their Messiah Ben David. They are the ones carrying on the truth of the Gospel. The wedding was well chosen(sic). Knowing that Sam Rinasy was going to Cambodia(Royal pardon or not), they leave their daugther alone to organise the biggest event of her life. Usually, weeks before the wedding, the parents give support and help to organise the wedding. The bride parents were in Cambodia and only came 1 day before the wedding. Even though, Sam Rainsy made a forum and rally in France and Lowell before the wedding instead of supporting her daughter. Are they good parents?
I would not like to have parents like Sam Rainsy and Saumura. That's my opinion.
That is why this wedding seems so improvised.
