Cambodian long-time opposition leader Sam Rainsy on Thursday called for dialogues with the Prime Minister Hun Sen's ruling party over political conflict after the hotly-contested July's election.

"The Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) would like to reaffirm its will to reach a peaceful resolution to the current political deadlock," Party President Sam Rainsy said at a news briefing. "I will phone His Excellency Sar Kheng (Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister) to inform him that the CNRP is willing to resume dialogues between the two parties."

CNRP's Vice-President Kem Sokha said the agendas for talks could be a request for probe into alleged poll irregularities and a demand for the resignation of the election council's leadership in order to pave the way for a credibly electoral reform.

There is no immediate response from the ruling Cambodian People 's Party (CPP), but the CPP has several times denied the election fraud and rejected the proposal for the probe committee, saying it is against the nation's constitution.

Sam Rainsy's appeal came after his party last week launched a three-day mass protest by marching through streets in the city to deliver petitions to the United Nations office and foreign embassies in a bid to seek their interventions in the country's political crisis after the election.

Cambodia held a parliamentary election on July 28. The official results revealed that the ruling CPP of Prime Minister Hun Sen gained the victory, but the CNRP refused to accept the results, claiming serious irregularities.

On Sept. 24, the Cambodian parliament, formed by the ruling party's 68 lawmakers-elect, voted for the establishment of a new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen even though the opposition's 55 lawmakers-elect boycotted the session.

Sam Rainsy reiterated on Thursday that the current government is "illegitimate" since it was formed in a violation of the constitution.

"We will continue to boycott the parliament unless the poll irregularities are resolved," he said.

However, Hun Sen has defended that his government is " legitimate" since the nation's King Norodom Sihamoni had already given endorsement.

Hun Sen, 61, who has been in power for 28 years, has vowed to rule the country until he is 74.

Sam Rainsy is too soft and powerless to talk to a stone head Hun Sen; peace demonstrations mean nothing the voters.

Cambodia will be disappearing from the World map very soon under Hun Sen dictatorship.

the idea of the CNRP to be flexible and negotiate with hun sen shows that sam rainsy and kem sokha lack " VISION " !!! this 6 letter word is a essence of any true leader.a leader must be absolutely firm and have unshakeable faith in his VISION for his people and his country.

the means by which it can be achieved i beleive is secondary depending on opponents will, but we must conclude sadly the true reality about sam rainsy that from the begining when sam rainsy returned to cambodia he had no clue how he would achieve victory.his very first move to participate in the cambodian election without demanding change of N.E.C gave hun sen a head start because hun sen was under tremondous pressure from the U.S which was already ready to pass a bill to cut aid and the rest of the world was also warning hun sen,but sam rainsy was jumping like a small kid to return to cambodia and fight in the rigged election even though he was not even legally allowed to contest.

now once after the elction which was obviosly rigged in the same way it has been done for the past 30 years in cambodia and hun sen won !! sam rainsy still had a golden oppurtunity to achieve victory if he had believed in his own countrymen (cambodians) and had a mass demonstration, instead of running behind foreign countries to ask help !! he even compared the struggle to MAHATMA GANDHI of india but what he failed to understand was gandhi beleived in non-violent nation wide civil dis-obedince where workers, farmers, government officials and even ordinary men and women stopped working and came out to protest untill their demands were met because of which the entire government mechanism was broken down and it would kneel on its knees beofre the people but in cambodia these 3 day protest were a joke to hun sen ,and also a betrayal to those determined khmer youths who were ready to sacrifice their lives for a change in cambodia.

we must remember sam rainsy's 3 main promise before the election when he toured through the world collecting funds . 1. he would be the next p

rime minister,2.he would kick hun sen out 3.he would make cambodia a better place . but we must understand that without achieveing his first 2 promisies he can never achieve the 3rd one . and these days every khmer whom i spoke to say that they want " investigation of election irregularities " !!! but when i ask them " really after that what ?? will hun sen step down from power once the investigation finishes ?? " and almost every one goes blank and doesnt know what to say .

i beleive that for any policy or approach taken by a leadership it must be absolutely sure of the end result and its long term objectives.

if CNRP does make a deal with hun sen and "SHARE POWER" will hun sen give up power in the 2018 election, can we even imagine such a thing happening ?? haven't we learnt anything from the past 30 years under hun sen ?. it is the same policy of negotiation and flexibility that u speak of MR.RAINSY which made U.N to allow hun sen to share power with king shianouk isn't it !!

look what happened because of it !! even today we r under dictatorship of hun sen ... imagine if U.N would stand firm with paris peace agreement and dared hun sen . then their would be temporary instability in the country but eventually king shianouk would make cambodia into a multi party plural democracy ..

i would like to remind u a quote by BENJAMIN FRANKLIN - "those who sacrifice essential liberty for temporary safety neither deserve liberty nor safety :) . i may not be a cambodian but my love for this beautiful country is as much as its owncountry men :) _ ..FROM CLAW .

What....what......what.....whatever!!!!!!! let's all live in peace mr. Rainsy. What r u afraid of? U has 55 seats; that is alot. your party can root out corruption easily with that much seats. be a constructive critizism in the senate. I understand that you have gone too far in pleasing with your grass-root supporters. I also know that you r thinking about joining the senate, but the false hope you gave them will get in the way. i said, @#%& with it; have one last gathering and proudly, geniunely, and logically give a concede speech with a lasting impression that CNRP will work hard in senate to correct all wrong for cambodian and that those supporters should reserved a pocket in their hearts for CNRP for the next election.

Given the current situation, their is no better way out for you mr. Rainsy

The CNRP,

1- Before the election: the NEC must be overhauled. The CNRP failed to do.

2- After the election:

Rainsy: We will continue to boycott the parliament unless the poll irregularities are resolved.

Please keep your words. Khmer people will call you traitor if you abandon this principal.

CNRP going to talk with thief you looser step talk not swear under the oath mean you surounder to bandit

My opinion, CNRP should ask CPP to create an independent commitees to assist in reviewing all voting ballots. The commitees should compose of independent monks and students or educators which are non alliance with any party. CNRP should request CPP to have NEC not to abolish but to step aside during ballots recount. And C N RP should re iterate or refrain not to have international bodies to mediate the ballot count but as observer along with other non alliance bodies. All meeting and discussion must be opened to public view to avoid tempering the process and trust. Thank you

Cambodians must live in peace. Peace comes from all Cambodians mind not me and you but all and everyone. Peace is truly come from Justice. No justice is no peace. Righteousness is a main or principle temptation of ours that lead to justice. Insult, madness, use of power, stubbornness are the cause of insecurity and should be avoided by all Cambodians if we want to be a good citizen. Just remember, stealing a candy in America is subject to a crime and must be punished. Cambodians must learn what is law all about. Thank you all
