With Emil Kirjas (left), Secretary General of Liberal International (LI), and MP-elect Tioulong Saumura. London, 8 October 2013.
The first stop of the international tour for Cambodia’s democratic leader, Sam Rainsy, is Liberal International.
Sam Rainsy, who seems to have won the public vote in the July elections, together with Tioulong Saumura MP, informs us that the new Cambodian parliament was set-up in unconstitutional and illegal fashion and its decisions are to be considered void.
Sam Rainsy updated LI that he has addressed the democratic nations and the signatories of the Paris Peace Accords, asking for the immediate setting up of an international inquiry to review the voting results.
LI Secretary General and Sam Rainsy discussed ways that LI can support the plea to learn the true outcome of the Cambodian elections. The LI President will raise the issue of the legitimacy of the new Cambodian government with the European institutions.
