YANGON, Nov. 9 (Xinhua) -- Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar's
Defense Services Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing has called for unity among
armies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), official media
reported Saturday.
"Enhancing the unity between ASEAN armies could help
further cement amity between the ASEAN countries, contribute towards the
emergence of the 2015 ASEAN Community," Min Aung Hlaing told the 14th
ASEAN Chiefs of Army Multilateral Meeting (ACAMM) held in the second largest
city of Mandalay on Friday.
Noting that the army plays a pivotal role in implementing
the ASEAN Political Security Community, he said sustainable economic
development concepts should be taken into consideration for establishment of
the ASEAN Economic Community as security and economy are inter-related,"
he added.
At the meeting, Myanmar's Deputy Defense Chief and Army
Chief Vice Senior-General Soe Win led the discussions on the topic of "
Enhancing ASEAN Armies Unity Towards the 2015 ASEAN Community".
The meeting involved army chiefs of Brunei, Cambodia,
Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
Besides, bilateral meetings between ASEAN army chiefs also
took place, the report said, adding that the meeting ended with a joint
statement calling for cooperation among the ASEAN armies.

true! asean is a community of nation! each nation should all get along! it is everybody's job to encourage this type of unity among the asean community of nations! no bias is allowed because every one of them need each other!
