One of the two suspects is arrested
for human trafficking

SIEM REAP (The Cambodia Herald) – Police have arrested two women at Siem Reap International Airport for bride trafficking, according to Major Chea Heng, Chief of the Bureau for Anti-Human Trafficking and Minor Protection.
They were planning on taking three Cambodian women on a flight to China to marry Chinese men, he said.
The two women charged with trafficking were identified as Na Thavry, 23, and Chea Phearith.
They were arrested Thursday around 12:30AM at Siem Reap International Airport.
"Airport police became suspicious of why they were traveling abroad, and decided to reprimand them for questioning," Heng said. "After they were questioned, police found out that the two women had planned to take other women to China to marry Chinese men."
"Na Thavry's husband lived in China, and he asked her to bring women to China to get married, he gave $2,200 each to the victim’s family," he said, according to the suspect's confession.
The three victims were escorted back to their families after being question, while the two suspects were sent to provincial court on charge of cross-border human trafficking, he added.
