at the rice offering ceremony held on November 6
PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The National Assembly of the Republic of Vietnam has donated a billion tons of rice to help flood-affected victims in Cambodia.
The rice offering ceremony was held Wednesday at Cambodia’s National Assembly with the attendance of Heng Samrin, National Assembly chairman and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia.
Speaking at the ceremony, Heng Samrin said“Vietnam’s assistance will provide help and relief to the Cambodian people during this time of need.”
"The recent floods seriously affected Cambodia's agriculture, infrastructure, schools and households totaling an estimated one billion dollars," he said.
He said the rice will be transported and contributed to flood-affected victims in 14 provinces such as Kampong Thom, Kandal, Prey Veng, Kampong Cham, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Pailin.
Other provinces to receive assistance include Svay Rieng, Preah Vihear, Oddor Meanchey, Rottanakiri, Stung Treng and Kratie.
