BANGKOK, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Monday announced the dissolution of the House of Representatives.

In a televised speech, Yingluck said the date of a general election will be decided as soon as possible.

Since the government took office in August 2011, it has been committed to addressing all sorts of crisis to promote social reconciliation, but divergence and conflicts still remain, Yingluck said.

Irrespective of government efforts, opposition parties resorted to street demonstrations rather than seeking solutions within the parliamentary system, she added.

Different political forces are still battling, each with a large number of supporters, Yingluck said, adding the country has seen too much pain.

The House is thus dissolved to return the power to the people at a critical moment, and let the people decide the way out for the nation, she said.

The dissolution is now awaiting royal approval.

Yingluck said she hoped all parties would attend the coming election and the government will remain functional as a caretaker until then.

The House dissolution is a way for the government to show responsibility for the current political situation, Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva said in a telephone interview with local Bluesky Channel.

It shows the government has no intention of clinging to power, he said, adding that the Democrat Party will continue to perform its duties as a political party after the dissolution.

Since early morning, anti-government protesters have been gathering at different sites to march to the Government House in a final attempt to topple the government.

Abhisit joined the massive rally, which was claimed by protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban to be "the final showdown with the government." All Democrat MPs resolved to resign en masse on Sunday evening to join Monday's protest.

Protest leaders said the dissolution was not enough and demanded the government resign and a "people's council" be established to find an unelected prime minister and cabinet instead of an elected one.

More people will be prompted to help explore solutions to the current predicament, and proposals by various groups will eventually head in the same direction, which is to return the power to the people and reform the country, Abhisit said.

Protesters have besieged the Government House, waiting for the main procession led by former deputy prime minister Suthep.

Barricades have been erected outside the Government House and so far no confrontation has occurred between the police and protesters.

the opposition party in Thailand might be right or wrong, as it fight for its turn to rule the country.
But the opposition party in Cambodia is absolutely right as they fight to save the nation from being
annexed as a Vietnam's satellite state through the help of Hun Sen and his cronies, the traitors.
Hun Sen, his comrades, and the King are committed to serve the Viets rather than to serve the Khmers, just as we Khmers have seen their collaboration so far. Both Hun Sen and Khmer monarch have exploited us Khmers for their own benefits. We Khmer compatriots must perceive the cause of the danger and stand strongly united struggle for our sake to save our nation!

The traitor Hun Sen,

Be a brave person like Yingluck.

Adopt her idea below and solve Cambodia's problem.

Stop being a Yuon's slave !! Kom Thork Teap Peuk !! Mouk Krass Dol Kor !!

Presently, your behavior is inferior to animals, which always fiercely defend their territory and their family.

If you stood so low like that, why would you want to live ? What for ?

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday proposed a public referendum on proposals by anti-government protesters to let the majority of the people decide and suggest a way of holding a clean and fair election with a consensus from all parties as a way to end the conflict.

Yingluck : "I do whatever it take to bring peace back to the Thai people"

Hun Sen: “I do whatever it take to hang on to power, I don’t care how many Khmer are killed or even Cambodia disappear after I die.”

You got the points!....Hun sen serves Hanoi, willing to die for Hanoi, willing to destroy his legacy, families, country for Hanoi without hesitation one bit, coup de'feat 1997 prove that Hun sen is capable to kill all Khmers people for Hanoi,Hun sen lost an election still cling to power to serve his boss Hanoi despite out cried from his people (Khmers) asking him to resign or to investigating the vote fraudulent by his thugs,Hun sen completely ignored. This is his jungle's attitude that he have learned from his boss Hanoi to be a good servant.

Yingluck serves her country with loves, with respect the will of her country-men,with dignity, integrity, honesty, she has learned from civilized school that the will of people must be obeyed in democracy society, she is willing resolves all dispute to avoid bloodshed among her countrymen.

Hun sen running his country thugism-style,street gangs style,he learned from Jungle school, uncivilized school, kills, robbs, steals, cheats to get ahead!....That was the differences between Hun sen and Yingluck.
