Mugabe vs. Hun Xen

Thursday, January 22, 2009
Op-Ed by U. Bun Heang
Translated from Khmer by Heng Soy

What Mrs. Mandela of South Africa said was very true: on the African continent, there is a roguish chief by the name of Robert Gabriel Mugabe, also known as “Buffalo Face,” … In our Xmer Kingdom, we also have a very Strongman – so strong in fact that he is way out of any classification chart – who bears the title of “Samdach Akak Moha Sena Dek Choar Hun Xen.” The two gentlemen have identical behavior, just like identical twins borne by different sets of parents.

It should be noted that Samdach Hun Sen is the out-of-the-pant (adopted) son of Preah Karuna Samdech Moha Vireak Ksatr (Hero-King). Therefore, the former also inherited the behavior trait of the latter, just as the old saying goes: “A leaf never falls too far from the tree.”
