For several days now, the Cambodian news media is talking about an assault against DJ Ano, an actress and TV presenter who is quite popular among the youths.
Suon Pheakdei, also known as DJ Ano, had disappeared from TV3 channel for the past few days. This surprising absence created some strong emotion among TV viewers. Nevertheless, some newspapers and magazines described an alleged assault in which DJ Ano was the victim of. The affair is allegedly a revenge case from a jealous wife, most likely a woman from a powerful family. According to the facts reported by these news media, the 27-year-old young woman had her hair shaved and her face disfigured by razor blades used by henchmen under the service of the wife of a “lok thom” (Big Mister, a high-ranking official). Under serious condition, she was sent to Vietnam to receive medical care.
For the time being, information on this affair is based only on anonymous sources. Neither the police nor officials from TV3 have confirmed the case. There is no direct witness, nor was there any photo published about the assault. No complaint was made by the family of the actress, nor did her family provide any declaration to the news media.
