Nguon Nhel, the standing president of the National Assembly (NA), confirmed during his meeting with the Lao defense minister, in the afternoon of 18 July that the installation of border markers between Cambodia and Laos will be completed in 2007.

Nguon Nhel indicated that on the issue of border markers installation, the government had organized everything already and all that is left is the actual installation itself. The Lao minister welcomed this issue.

In Heng Samrin’s name, Nguon Nhel also discussed about the economic development of Cambodia. On this issue, each Cambodian citizen receives an income of $520 per year, this amount is comparable to the economic growth in Laos also.

Nguon Nehl also gave a high mark on the cooperation and the good relationship between the two countries, not only at the government level, but the NA of the two countries have also made a lot of progress.

Nguon Nhel also told the high ranking Lao delegation that the Cambodian government has changed its triangular policy to a rectangular one, and in this new policy, the core issues are transparency and good governance in the economic development.

3-star general Duong Chai Phi Chit, the Lao minister, said that on safety issue along the common border between the two countries, the situation is good and no problem ever occurred there. The general said that the two countries will continue to strengthen and enlarge this good cooperation as neighboring countries and as longtime brothers.

In the future, the Lao president will come for an official visit in Cambodia, based on an invitation from the Cambodian king.
