Hun Sen 's Launching of Young CPP 'Successors' Countered by SRP Youth Movement

Sam Rainsy with SRP Youth Members

"This Issue's Comment" by Sralanh Khmer

Hun Sen recently introduced the new generation of Cambodian People's Party [CPP] offspring and declared that they are going to succeed their parents in the future. This declaration has led millions of Cambodian youth who currently are unemployed to think that this is a succession that the corrupt and dictatorial elite plan to have their children take over to perpetuate their colonialist yoke on the Cambodian nation and people from fathers to sons and beyond.

The Cambodian youth in general, especially the children of the poor are launching a campaign to join their forces in order to stop the dictatorial and corrupt stratum of this new CPP generation from continuing to lay waste to the country. This campaign is to establish youth movements.

The CPP officials installed in power by the Vietnamese aggressors since 1979 have destroyed, devastated, and wreaked havoc to the interests of the nation and people in a most extensive manner. Cambodia's assets, such as forests, fish stocks, historical constructions, national treasure, and ancient temples have been sold, bartered, or traded by the CPP officials, the out-and-out pawns of the Hanoi Vietnamese. Now these CPP officials, lackeys of Vietnam, are making plans to have their children succeed them in looting and destroying the country now that they (the CPP officials) are nearing their end. Hun Sen loudly announced two weeks ago that the CPP officials would soon launch a big team of their children to take over and carry on their work as their successors. This announcement was made after the "Khmer Intelligence" Website posted a report claiming that Hun Sen's son Hun Manet, who graduated from US Military Academy at West Point, would be pushed by his father to run as MP in the Siemreab constituency during the upcoming fourth term. Although Hun Sen denied this report he haughtily claimed that the CPP officials are not as stupid as not to know how to prepare their children to succeed them. He said: Just wait and see; the CPP will launch this new generation soon.

Almost all the children of the CPP officials have been sent by their parents to further their studies abroad. The money the CPP officials have made through corruption is used to sponsor their children's studies to prepare them as their successors.

On the contrary, the children of the poor people in both the rural and urban areas have to live in miserable living conditions under the pressure of Hun Sen's win-win policy, which consists of winning in his scheme to keep Cambodians hungry, frightened, and ignorant. The parents of the overwhelming majority of the Cambodian youth have lived in the hellish flames of the policy that has held the people hostage under the thumb of the CPP. The parents of the poor youth have to eke out an existence amid the acts of robbery and land-grabbing committed by the bandits sheltered under the CPP label all day and night for months and years. They have had to live in pain and misery like animals. The parents of these unfortunate youth have had not means to send their children to get high education like the children of the treacherous officials who have betrayed the nation and the people.

For this reason, the Cambodian youth who are the sons and daughters of the poor have remained in the state of servitude under the thumbs of these extremely contemptible strippers of the national assets. The garment factories are the only important source of employment for the children of the poor. Even this employment is the nest or site of serious human rights abuses. As a matter of fact, the workers are forced to work overtime under trying conditions month after month, year after year, but are paid a pittance that is not enough for them to have a decent livelihood. The factory owners protected by corrupt officials have maltreated the workers with impunity. When the workers stage demonstrations or strikes to demand respect for human rights and adherence to Labor Law, they are beaten up by the factory owners and their stooges. Sometimes, the government forces are sent in by the corrupt officials to suppress, shoot to kill, arrest, and imprison the workers in the most unjust and savage manner.

Although Cambodia has pledged to follow the road to multipartite democracy since 1993, the officials in power who are former Khmer Rouge cadres have continued to implement the jungle law of the Khmer Rouge, meaning that the present powers that be consider the people only as hostages of their despotic and corrupt authority. This method was put on display even more blatantly when the great Hun Sen of the CPP wildly gesticulated and vociferously announced that he would soon launch groups or teams of children of the CPP officials to succeed their parents in leading the country.

Hun Sen's announcement anyway constitutes an alarm bell to wake up the Cambodian youth in the whole country to the truth that this new generation made up of the children of the CPP officials constitutes a new stratum of colonialists who will impose their yoke on the motherland and the Cambodian people, men and women, young and old like. In particular, these new forces of the CPP are going to be launched in order to take over and carry on their parents' policy of stripping bare and destroying the motherland. This is why lately youth movements have been seen being formed all over the country, including the youth movements of all pro-democracy political parties, particularly the Sam Rainsy Youth Movement [SRYM], which would mobilize and unify the youth forces to support the democrats and prevent the succession of those who want to continue ripping the country to pieces.

Now, although all the non-CPP youth movements have not completed the mobilization of their joint forces, it is expected that until the July 2008 election the youth movements led by the SRYM will be able to attract the support of the young men and young women in the country to vote for the Sam Rainsy Party [SRP] so that this patriotic and democratic party can lead the government for the salvation of the country, which is sinking under the iron heels and evil claws of the corrupt CPP officials. The youth as a whole have pledged to bring victory to their drive to change the country's leadership. The youth say that only the SRP is their hope; only the SRP can transform the lives of the poor people and bring them a decent and dignified existence; and only with the SRP can the young men and young women have decent jobs allowing them to live as the masters of the country, liberated from the extremely evil colonialist yoke of the CPP, the most subservient lackey of the Hanoi Vietnamese.

Last Tuesday megalomaniac Prime Minister Hun Sen the Great claimed that his children and those of important high-ranked Cambodian People's Party [CPP] officials will join the political scene as a team in the very near future. This declaration by Hun Sen was made during a graduation ceremony at the National Education Institute when he emphasized that there should be no worry, for his children and the children of the CPP elite will join the political scene as a team.

On this occasion, megalomaniac Prime Minister Hun Sen publicly announced, "I would like to send my words back [to detractors] that these young men are not going to enter politics one by one. If they join the political scene it will be as a team. The children of CPP officials, if they enter politics, they will do it in a big team. You just wait and see." Moreover, Hun Sen used the crudest and most awful terms against the person who proposed that the prime minister's term should be limited.

Sam Rainsy, leader of Cambodia's famous opposition party, voiced his welcome to megalomaniac Prime Minister Hun Sen's above assertion. He said with emphasis, "I would like to congratulate him because even the son of a murderer, of a nation's destroyer, or of a dictator if he is well educated surely will have more progressive ideas than his father, and our country consequently will certainly be better off."

Many circles supported Sam Rainsy's view because if the children of murderers, strippers of the national assets, or dictators are well educated they will not commit bad acts as their fathers did.

A non-governmental organization official spoke on condition of anonymity noted that the strategy of the CPP has long been prepared through the intermarriages of the children of important, high-ranked officials in order to consolidate and keep their power for a long period of time. The strategy that the CPP elite are conducting is similar to the structure of the Khmer Rouge regime: when the husband controls of the men's unit, the wife must also control the women's unit and their children the children's units.

The same NGO official further said that the CPP elite have strengthened the alliance within their midst through intermarriages of their children in order to consolidate their power. Hun Sen's eldest son, Hun Manet, is making public appearances through humanitarian relief activities to help the poor, which is an initiation method for him before entering the political scene through a compact family network. However, we should not forget that power is not the exclusive property of any group or party, and despotic leaders normally are condemned far and wide once they fall from grace.

Also on Tuesday, megalomaniac Prime Minister Hun Sen threatened to use the Anti-Corruption Law [ACL] against political party leaders with dual nationality at this time when the ACL is still stuck somewhere. To these days, it has not been known where the draft ACL really is after Hun Sen created the so-called "Anti-Corruption Unit" and appointed his adviser Om Yentieng to be its chairman.

According to some unofficial sources, the draft ACL is still in the hands of the Ministry of Inspection controlled by former Female Comrade Men Sam-an, member of the CPP permanent committee. Other sources hinted that the draft ACL is stuck at the Cabinet of the Council of Ministers controlled by Sok An, father-in-law of one of the megalomaniac prime minister's daughters.

Monitors of Cambodia's political situation have predicted that when the ACL comes into force, it is not the political leaders with dual nationality who will be worried. On the contrary, it is megalomaniac Prime Minister Hun Sen and the other high-ranked CPP officials that have committed corrupt acts of stealing from the nation and destroying the country who will be worried. As a matter of fact, Sam Rainsy, leader of the opposition party, has long been prepared to declare his assets while Hun Sen and other high-ranked CPP officials have never dared to talk about it.

Where has Hun Sen's wealth come from for him to build thousands of schools named after himself in his populist campaign? Hun Sen must answer this question when the ACL is enforced. If Hun Sen fails to clearly explain the sources of these millions of dollars, the national and international circles would think that Hun Sen has committed acts of corruption in looting the nation and stripping its assets.

Analysts said that concerning the children of the CPP elite joining the political stage as a team or in series no one would oppose it because this is a right guaranteed by the Constitution. And moreover it is a very good thing for the CPP elite's children who are highly educated to enter the political scene because the learned people are not as bad as the ignorant leaders. Ignorant leaders might continue to cling to power without shame. The well-educated people would not dare to behave in that manner.

The analysts have concurred with Sam Rainsy's remark that the children of the murderers and strippers of the national assets, the children of the destroyer of the country, and the children of the dictators if they are well educated have more progressive ideas than their fathers, and the country consequently would be better off under their leadership. Therefore, if Hun Sen is bold enough to let his son and the children of other CPP officials jump into the political fray as a team, then he will really see the light.
