The Koh Santepheap newspaper reported that at around 1:00 PM on 29 October, Ser Tong Thai, a 16-year-old Cambodian teenager from Staung district, Kampong Thom province, was shot by Thai soldiers from the Suranari regiment. The young man was shot in the head causing him a serious injury while he was waiting to take a bus in Thailand near the Dead Tiger (Khla Ngoab) corridor, located in Malay district, Banteay Meanchey province, so he can go to work as a laborer harvesting rice for Thai farmers in Aranyaprathet, Sa Koew province, Thailand. The report indicated that prior to the incident, the victim, along with more than 10 other people (Cambodian workers also) were waiting for the bus at the location cited above, then they saw Thai soldiers approaching them. Seeing this, the victim and the others start to run because they were afraid the Thai soldiers would arrest them and beat them up before throwing them in jail. Thai soldiers then started to shoot at the Cambodian workers, and one bullet hit Ser Tong Thai on the head and he was seriously injured. When the victim fell to the ground, Thai soldiers arrested him and took him away, the other workers escaped safely. Following an intervention from Cambodian authority, the Siamese allowed the victim to be released and sent back to Cambodia.
