On Tuesday, an official from the F’pec party indicated that party members who are displeased with the party, are currently threatening to defect F’pec to join the NRP because they did not receive the government position they wanted. Ok Socheat, a F’pec advisor, told The Phnom Penh Post that several party officials who were not nominated to government positions, are angry because they said that they spend huge amount of money during the campaign for the 27 July general election, but they were turned down for a position in the coalition government. He added: “Before the election, we heard that 300 (F’pec) officials will be nominated to position in the government, but this number dropped to 61 only.” He added that 50% of the party members have left to join other parties. He said that this is normal because these people were angry since they spent huge amount of money to try to woo voters. Therefore, when they could not obtain any position, they turn to Samdech Krom Preah (Norodom Ranariddh). He also added that a number of officials hope to influence Prince Ranariddh to return back to lead the Funcinpec party again.
