Prince Ranariddh demands that his name be erased from Funcinpec position03 June 2007

Prince Ranariddh, NRP President, requests Keo Puth Rasmei, Funcinpec president, one more time to remove his title of “historical leader” or any other title from the Funcinpec party so as to clarify the situation and avoid any loss due to this deception of the public opinion.
However, Nouv Sovathero, Funcinpec spokesman, told RFA that the prince’s title which was given to him by the Funcinpec congress disappears when he formed a new political party, therefore, there is no need to remove it anymore, as per the Funcinpec party statute.
Nouv Sovathero said: “When he lost his membership (from the party), his position as historical leader also disappeared by itself, and if he orders the (Funcinpec) congress to erase any point in the (party) statute regarding this historical leadership, it cannot be done because this is a decision of the congress. And if he thinks that the congress approved him, he should retain it, it would be better than walking out and yell to order another party to listen to him, we will not listen to him at all.”
This is the second time that Prince Ranariddh requested Keo Puth Rasmei to remove the title of “historical leader” given to him by the Funcinpec extraordinary congress on 18 October 2006. In the past, Prince Ranariddh considers this congress as illegal, and a coup-de-party.
