Hun Sen to abandon adopted daughter over her lesbian affairs
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said on Tuesday that he will file a complaint to court to abandon his adopted daughter because she left home and married a girl.
"I educated the whole people in my country but I could not educate my adopted daughter," he told more than 3,000 students and top government officials who joined a graduation ceremony in PhnomPenh.
"I felt very regretted with her and that the lesbian case happened in family. I and my wife will send a complaint to court to deprive her of any will and property of my family," he said.
"I and my wife adopted her while she was 18 days in 1988 and she used my family name from that time. She brought her girls to my house and slept together with them," he said.
"We are concerned that one day her girls take bombs and poisonous materials to our house and we all will die. Who knows in advance? I have five children and one adopted daughter," he said.
"We have to deal the legal issues with her. I used to send her to study in the United States but she could not finish her study and came back to Cambodia," he added.
"This is the first time that I declared publicly the internal affairs of my family, because lesbian cases happened in Cambodia with large range," he said.
All of Hun Sen's children have remained obscure to the public since he started to head the kingdom almost a decade ago. The name of his adopted daughter has never been revealed.

Hun Sen on his lesbian daughter: "I can educate an entire nation, but I cannot educate this adopted daughter" - Does he really know what education is?
Hun Sen disowns his lesbian daughter
Phnom Penh (dpa) - Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen gave a rare glimpse into his private life Tuesday when he admitted disowning his adopted daughter after discovering she was a lesbian.
Speaking before around 3,000 people at a graduation ceremony in Phnom Penh, Hun Sen spoke about his personal struggle, saying media and other educational forums had taught him it was okay to be gay, but when it happened in his own family, he "did not know how to do."
"My daughter has married a woman ... Now I just asked the court to cut her out of the family," he said. His comments were edited from later versions of the speech aired on state media.
"I was disappointed. I can educate an entire nation, but I cannot educate this adopted daughter," he added.
The official website of Hun Sen's cabinet, Cambodia New Vision, names five children in the family of Hun Sen and his wife Bun Rany and says one daughter is adopted, but does not name her.
In February 2004, then-king Norodom Sihanouk gave his support to gay marriage on his website, saying a democratic Cambodia should accept "marriage between man and man ... or between woman and woman."
However the concept remains largely unacceptable in Cambodia's conservative Buddhist society, and homosexuals often feel pressured to enter into heterosexual marriages.
Bun Rany is the president of the Cambodian Red Cross and has particularly championed the fight against HIV and Aids.

Cambodia PM Severs Ties to Gay Daughter [-Hun Sen claims he is not discriminating gays but he did all he can to disown his lesbian adopted daughter]
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) — Cambodian's prime minister said Tuesday he was severing ties with his adopted daughter, who is a lesbian, but appealed to people not to discriminate against gays."My adopted daughter now has a wife. I'm quite disappointed," Hun Sen said.
He made the rare revelation about his closely guarded family life during a public speech at a student graduation ceremony.
Hun Sen said he plans to file a civil court case to disown his adopted daughter so that she cannot claim any inheritance from his family.
"We are concerned that she might one day cause us trouble ... and try to stake her claim for a share of our assets," he said.
The prime minister and his wife Bun Rany have three sons and two other daughters. He said they adopted their third daughter in the mid 80's when she was 18 days old. She has carried his family name "Hun" just like his biological children. Hun Sen did not reveal her given name.
Although he is cutting ties with her, Hun Sen said he was not discriminating against gays and appealed to society to show respect for them.
Sam Vuthy, coordinator of Women's Agenda for Change, a nonprofit Cambodian group advocating gay rights, declined to comment on Hun Sen's decision regarding his daughter but applauded his appeal not to discriminate against gays.
