Samdach Akkak Mohasenabatdey Dekcho Hun Sen, prime minister of Cambodia, called on government officials from all national institutions, as well as MPs and Senators, the Royal Government of Cambodia, all levels of authorities, all armed forces and the population to continue providing their support to him to lead the country.
Hun Sen made this declaration during an inauguration ceremony for the “Hun Sen nursery plantation in Phnom Ta Mao,” in the morning of 22 October. Hun Sen said that the (additional) title given to him (by the King) means that he has additional responsibilities. Hun Sen added prior to giving him the additional title of “Samdach Akkak Mohasenabatdey Dekcho”, the king based his decision upon (Hun Sen’s) continuation of the legacy of Sangkum Reastr Niyum (SRN) regime then-led by King Norodom Sihanouk, the Hero-King, the father of the Khmer nation. Under this condition, Hun Sen said that he is very proud of the king bestowing him this new title. Hun Sen said that, even though the paths taken (by his regime and the SRN regime) are not similar, but the new title is tantamount to declaring that he is the successor (of the SRN).
Hun Sen added: “there is no political choice better than this ‘popular democratic evolution’” and the leadership of the CPP is almost similar to that of the SRN led by King Norodom Sihanouk also.
Hun Sen thanked the king, as well as King-Father and Queen-Mother, who always look kindly upon him and his Lok Chumteav in their development activities for the nation, and in the active interaction between the king and the prime minister.
Hun Sen called out by saying that if people want Hun Sen to succeed, it is necessary that he has support, because for a government to be successful, it needs the support of the people, furthermore, Hun Sen said that he never destroyed the interest of the people either.
Hun Sen added that the title bestowed upon him, is not simply a title promotion, but that it is involved with his responsibility, the same also goes to Chea Sim and Heng Samrin. Hun Sen said that the title bestowed upon him cannot be granted by the king if his work was not successful, and in turn, Hun Sen’s successful achievement cannot be done without the support from government officials, all the armed forces, and all Cambodians. Furthermore, the high title bestowed upon him is commensurate with his responsibility and his current and future duty, and we will not deceive the king with unsuccessful work.
