The KR Tribunal (KRT) agreed to allow Ieng Sary, the former minister of Foreign Affairs of the Khmer Rouge regime, to see Ieng Thirith, his wife, 45 minutes each week. According to Ieng Thirith’s lawyer, on 13 March, his defendant asked the KRT to visit her husband twice a week, however, the investigating co-judges allowed the jailed couple to meet once a week only for a duration of 45 minutes. Ang Uddom, Ieng Sary’s lawyer, said that it is difficult the couple to be separated and they cannot talk to each other or see each other face to face. Ang Uddom added that the separation affects the mental health of the couple.
