Hun Sen issued a directive asking for a further saving in the use of electricity during the current oil price increase. In the directive for saving electricity dated 12 march, signed by Hun Sen, the latter asked all state ministries, both in the cities and the provinces, to participate in this saving on the use of electricity, for e.g., air conditioners should be turned off 30 minutes prior to leaving the offices; with the exception of holidays, street lights should be turned on only on one side of the street, or every other ones, etc… In summary, the use of electricity must be done with saving in mind. In his directive, Hun Sen also called on the Ministry of Interior, and the local authorities to cooperate with the Ministry of Mining and Energy, and EdC to eliminate the illegal theft of electricity which is happening all along the network. This saving directive came at a time when the price of oil is increasingly rapidly, and it is now affecting the livelihood of the people.
