The ministry of public works and transport has set the price for motorcycle driving lessons at all private driving school and departments of public works in all province and municipalities to 57,000 riels (~$14.25) only. Keo Savin, director of transportation of the ministry of public works told the Rasmei Kampuchea newspaper that the cost of motorcycle driving lesson at private driving schools in the country is limited to 20,000 riels (~$5), and when added with the exam certificate and the driving license itself, the total cost amount to 57,000 riels (~$14.25). Several private schools have started to provide driving lessons, and the lessons are provided free of charge at the department of public works. Currently, in Phnom Penh city, there are about ½ million motorcycles, but only about 10,000 motorcycle drivers have legal driver license.
