Two schooners flying Cambodia flag detained near Sakhalin

VLADIVOSTOK, June 11 (Itar-Tass) - The fishing schooners Tairy and Seiko flying the Cambodian flag have been detained for poaching near Sakhalin. Coast guard inspectors found on the schooners 8.5 tonnes of live snow crab, and the captains of the vessels had no permission for the catch.

The public relations group of the Sakhalin coast guard department of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Friday that the poacher schooners were detained in the eastern part of the La Perouse Strait on June 10. In 2009, the same schooners had already been caught poaching when 16.5 tonnes of crab were found on them. Both vessels are currently under investigation.

Motorboat flying Cambodian flag detained off Sakhalin

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, February 9 (Itar-Tass) - The SV-11 motorboat flying the Cambodian flag was detained on Moneron Island off Sakhalin on suspicion of poaching.

The vessel is registered at the port of Phnom Penh. The crew includes ten Russians and five Indonesians.

According to the press service of the Sakhalin coastal department, the motorboat was detained on Sunday by a patrol ship. Coatsal guards found 900 kilograms of live blue crab onboard, no fishing permit was provided.

The captain of the vessel is a citizen of Russia who is suspected of contraband, poaching of rare aquatic animals and plants and illegal crossing of the Russian border.

The vessel was tugged to the port of Nevelsk for further investigation.

Ship flying Cambodian flag detained for poaching near Sakhalin

YUZHNO-SAKHALINSK, May 17 (Itar-Tass) - The Mariner motor ship flying the Cambodian flag was detained for poaching in the south of the Sea of Okhotsk in the early hours of Thursday.

The vessel is registered in Phnom Penh and is owned by the foreign company Ocean Weygandt.

Border guards found 10 tonnes of live crab onboard. The motor ship’s captain had no fishing permit. The Mariner has Russian crewmembers.

According to the Federal Security Service’s Sakhalin region border department, The Mariner was detained while another poaching vessel from Sakhalin – The Taranai, where 35 tonnes of illegal crab were arrested on Wednesday - was being tugged to Sakhalin’s port for investigation.

At present, two poaching vessels have been tugged to the port of Korsakov.
