Further Viet ingerence in AKP

VN, Cambodia news agencies boost ties

HA NOI — The Vietnamese Party and Government has said that it fully supports the comprehensive co-operation between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and the Cambodian News Agency (AKP).

Receiving an AKP delegation led by Vice General Director Ouk Kimseng in Ha Noi yesterday, the Deputy Head of the Central Commission for Publicity and Education, Nguyen The Ky, praised the relationship between the two agencies, calling for continued bi-lateral development and assistance.

Vice General Director Ouk Kimseng expressed his admiration at Viet Nam's development, saying that he looked forward to working with the VNA on information exchange and human resource training.

Vietnamese, Cambodian news agencies promote cooperation

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Khiev Kanharidh, Minister of Information and spokesperson for the Royal Government of Cambodia, described the working visit to Cambodia by a delegation of the Viet Nam News Agency (VNA) as a manifestation of the efforts to strengthen cooperation between the national news agencies of the two countries.

Minister Khiev Kanharidh made the remark while receiving in Phnom Penh on Sept. 4 the VNA delegation, led by Vice Director General Tran Mai Huong.

The VNA visit from sept. 3-9 is made at the invitation of General Director Kit Kim Huon of Agence Kampuchea Presse (AKP).

The Cambodian minister thanked VNA for its assistance to AKP, especially in personnel training and technical aid. Many former staff members of AKP are holding important positions in Cambodia 's State agencies and non-governmental organisations, he said.

The minister expressed his belief that VNA will continue helping AKP to perform well the function of a State news agency of Cambodia.

VNA Vice Director General Huong affirmed that VNA is milling to share its experiences with AKP in human resource development and professional skills.

Earlier the same day, the VNA delegation held talks with an AKP delegation, led by General Director Kit Kim Huon. The two sides agreed that VNA and AKP have well implemented their cooperation agreement, especially in daily information exchange and annual exchange of delegations. The two sides will continue to boost information and experience sharing, mutual technical assistance and personnel training.

The VNA delegation plans further working session with AKP to inquire into its professional activities and a meeting with the leadership of Siem Reap province.
