On 02 September, several dozens of Vietnamese celebrated the Viet National Day, the 64th anniversary of the Vietnamese war victory over France. The celebration was held at the Cambodia-Vietnamese friendship monument located in front of Wat Botum Pagoda, Phnom Penh city. Viet embassy officials in Cambodia and about 100 Viets came to place a flower wreath at the friendship monument to commemorate the Viet war victory over France in 1945. A Viet embassy official who refused to provide his name said that the Viet National Day is celebrated every 02 September in various countries in the world where large number of Vietnamese are living. Man Chhoeun, the CPP deputy governor of the city of Phnom Penh, said that the Viet National Day celebration on Cambodian soil was held with proper authorization –sic!–. Man Chhoeun said that this celebration will not affect the Cambodian society and population at all –sic!–
