Vietnam's co-operation: ties that bind and choke Cambodia

Vietnam ready to boost agricultural co-operation with Cambodia

Vietnam is ready to promote agricultural co-operation with Cambodia, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai told visiting Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Chan Sarun in Hanoi on April 4.

PM Khai welcomed the delegation's visit to Vietnam, highlighting the traditional friendship and co-operation between the two countries.

To develop agricultural production and reduce poverty, the two countries must strengthen co-operation in bio-technology and farm produce processing, he said. The Vietnamese government is encouraging localities to boost co-operation with Cambodia's border provinces for socio-economic development.

Minister Sarun shared the view with his host and hoped to see increased co-operation with Vietnam. (VNA)

Viet Nam, Cambodia wish for closer cultural ties

Ha Noi, April 3 (VNA) - Cambodia wishes to cooperate with Viet Nam to preserve the cultural identities of each country, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts Prince Sisowath Panara Sirivudh underlined at a reception in Ha Noi on April 3.

Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem expressed his delight that Viet Nam-Cambodia relations have been lifted to a higher level, which found clearl demonstrations in bilateral cooperation and support at regional, inter-regional and international forums.

"Viet Nam wants to increase its cultural and artistic cooperation with Cambodia in the future, particularly through regular exchanges of art troupes and sharingof experiences in cultural identity preservation," he affirmed.

Deputy PM Khiem said that Viet Nam has always considered Cambodia a close neighbour, with which it has not only forged economic and political relations but also treasured cultural and artistic exchanges for better understanding of each other.

Prince Sisowath expressed appreciation towards the socio-economic achievements that he saw in his second visit to Viet Nam, after his arrival last year as a member of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen's official visit from October 10-12.-Enditem

Cultural ties with vietnam is a self destruct (Cambodian culture) policy. We do not need this, we have no close proximity in terms of our cultural being.
