Thai lawyers met Cambodian counterparts for the first time to discuss the case of 3 militants accused of terrorism.

Two Thai muslims and one Cambodian muslim were arrested in March 2005.

Phnom Penh municipality court sentenced the three men to life emprisonment for suspected ties with Jemaah Islamiyah group, and having plans to attack foreign embassies in Phnom Penh.

Up to now, the Court of Appeals has not had any trial yet.

The defendants' Cambodian lawyer Kao Sopha says that the meeting with Thai counterpart is to convey his intention to help his clients, and that if the civil society officials, Thai legislators, and Embassy personnels help them, they will be free from detention.
