Letter to the Editor

Khmer Rouge Brother No 2 Nuon Chea was not happy about the hanging of Saddam Hussein, ("Nuon Chea: Saddam's Execution a Tragedy," Jan 2, page 12.)
Nuon Chea, I would like to tell you of the bitter memories I have of your terrible regime. I was evacuated from Phnom Penh to Wat Tormyouth in Battambang province's Mong Russei district. There, your black uniformed militias tied up civilians accused of being in the US Central Intelligence Agency. Without detailed investigation, they tortured them with gun butts, bamboo staves or hoe handles then killed them. This happened a short distance from where I stood and I clearly saw it with my own eyes.
Several Lon Nol soldiers had their hands tied behind their backs, then were strung up with rope, and had their heads held in giant jars until they drowned. Why do you regret the death of Saddam? Don’t you regret the suffering of your people?
Saddam's regime forbade freedom of expression but his people could travel freely. They had enough to eat and were provided with medical care. Under the Khmer Rouge, people were starved, overworked, had no medical care, no freedom of expression and were killed.
Cambodia has no death penalty but in my view, all these acts committed by Nuon Chea and other Khmer Rouge top leaders deserve real justice. The tribunal will deliver justice to millions of victims and bring them peace of mind.

Just wonder when are we going to HANG NUON CHEA...
I volunteer to be one of those guys in masks to put the rope around his neck.
