Opposition party leader Sam Rainsy Wednesday filed a complaint against the Provincial Election Committee (PEC) officials in Ratanakiri province, to the National Election Committee (NEC).
The allegations involved claims of irregularities in registering candidates from the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP). Sam Rainsy says the list of candidates was submitted after the deadline, which was on January 03.
He maintains the Provincial Election Committee is biased toward the CPP.
Executive director of the Neutral and Impartial Committee for Free Elections in Cambodia (NICFEC), Hang Puthea hopes that NEC is able to better handle the complaints better than PEC has.
