Some 300 people protested outside the Chinese Embassy Thursday, claiming they were owed up to three months of back pay by a Malaysian garment manufacturer based in Kandal province.
Protestors claimed a Chinese manager at Jusca Garments (Cambodia) Ltd factory in Ang Snuol district's Kandork commune, fled the country Dec 30 with $100,000 from which they should have been paid.
Tith Vong, Ang Snuol district police chief, said his police are not investigating because the manager has already left the country. Chinese Embassy officials could not be reached for comment.
A senior official at Jusca said the Chinese man in question was an agent for the factory, not a staff member.
After the factory outsourced some duties to the agent, he hired his own staff then fled the country with his workers' November salaries, the official said.
The Chinese Embassy has informed Jusca that it has issued an arrest warrant for the man, he added. "We have to locate the person first," before the workers can be paid, he said.
The missing man, not Jusca, is responsible for paying the salaries, he added.

that's fruckin' cruel. After intensive labour for months on end, and you don't get paid? Whoever is behind this fiasco should be hanged. Robbing the people's hard earned honest dollar is lower than shit.
