Sam Rainsy Party (SRP), the third major party in the National Assembly of Cambodia, said on Thursday that it will hold an extraordinary congress on Sept. 8-9 to strengthen the party for the general election next year.
The purposes of the congress is to choose the party's president, deputy president, secretary general, members of steering committee and members of national council, Mu Sochua, secretary general of SRP, told reporters here.
The congress will be held in Phnom Penh and about 7,000 members will attend it, she added.
The congress also aims to greatly improve the party's structure and set its political strategy, she said, adding that the party will select the members of parliament to represent for general election in 2008.
In the 2003 general election, SRP had 24 of 123 parliamentarians. The ruling Cambodian People's Party stood first with 76 MPs and the co-ruling Funcinpec Party with 26 MPs.

I would like to share my same vision like SRP and hope that this party will be able to lead Cambodia after election 2008. At present, Cambodia is being ruled with leaders who have employed mafias as their advisors such as Heng Sarin ( Oum Chhay), Chea Sim ( Tang Seng Hak and others) Hun Sen ( Ly Yong Phat, Mong Rithy, Kok An, Kong triv) Nhek Bun Chhay ( chea Chung ) etc.. we want new face with new ideas. We want leaders with good advisors who have not involved with landgrabbings and drugs trafficking. We want a real change for harmony and for propsperity. We want our leaders with family value and moral value. we don't want those who have stolen their Ministers'wife and daughters to be a leader.
In Sam Rainsy dictionary, you'll find the following:
CONGRESS: Supporters and sympathizers alike are welcomed to come on September 8-9 to only listen to Sam Rainsy, Tioulong Saumura and Mu Sochua. They are not allowed to have a say, express their opinions or raise their concerns about anything. However, they can contribute financially to Sam Rainsy and his wife Tioulong Saumura as much as they can. There is no limit whatsoever in giving money to this greedy couple. The more the better, but they have to keep in mind that there is no string attached to the money they contribute. They cannot ask for anything at all.
CHANGE: Within the SRP, there will be change, of course. Dates: day, month and year. Anything else will stay exactly the same.
DEMOCRACY: The minority rules, i.e. Sam Rainsy and Tioulong Saumura. Among these two figures, Tioulong Saumura is the most powerful. She has the final say in everything. She is the only decision-maker within the SRP. She has the pen whereas Sam Rainsy has the microphone.
PLURALISM: No more royal families, no more princes and princesses, no more kings and queens, no more monarchy. Only the SAM dynasty rules over Cambodia. In the name of SAM SARY, Amen!

Do you not know that Sam Rainsy is worse than Hun Sen? I do agree with you 100% that Hun Sen has been kissing Hanoi's arse since 1978 and there is no way whatsoever to change this cruel reality except People Power. To the deception of SRP supporters and sympathizers alike, nevertheless, Sam Rainsy has been kissing Hun Sen's arse since he returned to Phnom Penh on February 03, 2006, after more than a year of self-imposed exile to France.
Both Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha are in fact addicted to kissing Hun Sen's arse and there will be no detox available for them at least for many years to come. YUM! YUM!
