Hanoi, Vietnam (AHN) - The World Bank said on Monday it will put in place an assistance package to help Vietnam achieve its goal of becoming a middle income country by 2010.
"We will try to help the government achieve that goal," World Bank President Robert Zoellick told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) during his two-day visit to the Southeast Asian country on Monday.
"The way to do that is to help all of Vietnam grow. The rural areas, so farmers can add more to the production of the country, some of the financial sector, energy sector, infrastructure," Zoellick was quoted as saying by VNA.
Vietnam is targeting a $2,000 annual per capita income by 2010.
Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told the visiting World Bank president that his country is thankful for the development assistance provided by the bank to fight poverty.
However he added that even though Vietnam has halved poverty in a decade, the country remains poor with an annual income per capita of just $720.
The prime minister told Zoellick that there are still a lot of challenges facing Vietnam. Zoellick said he was "very impressed" with what he had seen on his tour and congratulated Vietnam on its poverty reduction program.

cool. It makes sense to help VN. It will take until 2010 to deal with a non-corrupted government. It will take until 2050 to deal with Cambodian government.
Ofcourse they're helping Vietnam more than Cambodia, because the Youn, hate them or like them is not corrupt like the Hun Sen government. There is economic transparency and harsh punishment of top politicians in vietnam.
This is very interesting because HUN SEN kept sending his Vietcong slave officials to Vietname to be brainwashed to receive the Vietcong knowledge and when they returned back to Cambodia and they started to commit all kinds of corruption! How can this be unless the Vietcong fed H HUN SEN Vietcong slave officials the wrong information!
So eat your heart out all of you HUN SEN Vietcong slave officials because Vietname will achieve a middle income country by 2010 which mean a $2,000 annual per capita for the Viet population while Cambodian people still face the same old, same old, and same old corruption problem. I have to wonder what happen to the anti-corruption law! World Bank President Robert Zoellick never mentions a word about corruption to the Vietcong officials!
There is a saying that fit this whole picture of HUN SEN corruption! "Do as I say but don't do what I do!" ahahahhahahhahahah! Who would stupid enough to do what the Vietcong have to say! ahahha!
The Khmer mentality is way different from AH HUN SEN mentality which is a slave mentality! Good Luck HUN SEN! Go HUN SEN, Go! Go! This is a brave new world for you!
By the way, Cambodia Annual income per person: $430!

If only Cambodia can copy a fraction of the Viet capability and Cambodia would be a different place but it is too bad that HUN SEN include his officials don't have the brain power to copy what the Viet can do and they rather chose to be slave to the Viet for everything even when Cambodian toddler lost s/her foot in escalator accident and s/ he had to be send to Vietname just to do the reconnect foot surgery! This is such a shame for all Khmer people! This is such a shame! HUN SEN never want any Khmer people to exceed his educational level which is none!
Oh my Khmer people when you will wake up! Please wake up Cambodia is going into the wrong direction! Cambodia needs a boot camp for training Khmer doctors in all fields! Cuba is a good example and other country as well…!
