No troop readjustment at Thai-Cambodian border: Thai military commander

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, July 3 (TNA) - Thailand's 2nd Army commander on Friday said border troop deployment remained unchanged along the Thai-Cambodian border near the disputed ancient Hindu temple ruins, stating that any troop readjustment had to be carried out in conjunction with a similar move of Cambodia.

Lt-Gen Wibulsak Neepal, second army commander, said the situation along border at Thailand's Si Sa Ket province remained calm, and there were no signs of any unusual troop movements, but precautionary measures have been taken to prevent possible clashes.

Referring to talks Thursday with Cambodia's 4th Army chief Lt-Gen Chea Mon in Thailand's northeastern province of Surin, Gen. Wibulsak said both parties agreed to submit each other's proposal to their superiors for further consideration.

He stressed there was no progress on any border troop reductions, but both sides pledged not to resort to violence and recommitted to peaceful means through talks to end the dispute.

"Thailand will not be the first to remove any troop from the area claimed by both countries as the troop reductions had to be carried out by Thailand and Cambodia at the same time," the general said.

"If it isn’t done, the standoff otherwise will remain as it is for the time being until the boundary committee can resolve the border dispute through (proper) demarcation," he said.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban is scheduled to leave for the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh on Saturday to talk with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Mr. Suthep said the troop reductions should help ease border tensions.

He and the Cambodian leader had agreed during their meeting last week border dispute should be settled by peaceful means.

Border tensions have been escalating since the Thai government protested to the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and its World Heritage Committee over their decision granting Cambodia's unilateral application last year to list Preah Vihear (Phra Viharn in Thai) temple as a World Heritage site. I agree! Thailand is the one that suppose to withraw, i don't think cambodia troops has to withraw, because we are staying inside our lands....

I think it is hard to avoid war between the two country. Both sizes have prepared everything for a possible widespread of war along the border, and the language of peaceful solution is a just a pretext to delay it a bit longer. I hope i am wrong!!!

You're right! Thai is working on their government stability; what better way to draw their people away from their internal instability. His tactic (Abhisit) is to stalled and fight for this issues so he can overcome his peoples trust.
Again, don't be too naive to think that Huynh Sen is not playing the same decks of card.
That's why, there is always a meeting behind close door with no fruitful result.

Dear Joint Blood Sisters and Brothers,

As you know Thai leaders don't have cordial and respect Cambodia. What they do at the present just want to delay in order for them to seek new tricks and strategies in taking advantages from the case.

WHY DOES THE CAMBODIA'S GOVERNMENT STILL USE THE MEANINGLESS EXISTING BILATERAL NEGOTIATION?

May be the time not yet to come or the situation is not on maturity.

UNAVOIDABLE INVADING WAR BY THAILAND

You also know that ABHISIT, Thai PM just finished his visit to China last month and he will do another to Vietnam on 10 july for strengthening the bilateral relations.

What stay behind the scene?
Thailand is aware that China and Vietnam are more closed to Cambodia. Therefore, Abhisit may use his visits to persuade those two countries not give Cambodia a hand in case of war break out between the two nations. This is the diplomatic strategy to tighten Cambodia in advance. AFTER EVERY THING WILL BE WELL PREPARED, THAILAND WILL OPEN THE FIRE TO CAMBODIA UNPREDICTABLE.

Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Cambodia is more stronger on international laws, diplomatic, and maybe the experienced soldiers; BUT CAMBODIA'S LEADERS SHOULD NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE SITUATION.

DON'T FORGET, THAIS DEFEATED KHMER IN ANGKOR AND LONGVAK PERIODS BY USING DIRTY TRICKS INCLUDING THE KHMER FRAGILES.

AS I SAY, DO NOT TAKE CARE WHAT IT SAY, BUT MUST BE CARE WHAT IT DO. Because Thais are unreliable.

Ok, we can welcome a war, and then we will have strong evident to show the UNSC and the world that Thais are barbarians, and ask the UNSC to monitor the whole joint border along including maritime boundary.

what happening in Cambodia and Thailand is analogous to Palestine and Israel where both sides never agree to anything. and nothing will come out of this border conflict. But what's really great is that we see the show of forces between the two countries. We see Cambodian army stands up to thais agression and they are willing to defend our country. there is no other option but to defend and fight for Cambodia. History tells us that when a country invades another country, it will be defeated in no time. in 1939 Hitlers army invaded Europe. at the time alot of people thought that it was the end of the world, the end of time, but Hitlers army got defeated by European army. I believe thais army will be defeated if they invade Cambodia. If they do, they should be preparing cofin for their loved ones as it will be an ugly fight with mass casulties.
