The point here is not about the language, it's about the guy. A lot of people do0n't like him.
Hor5Hong was and always been a Viet's spy, even under Lon Nol. He was head of Boeung Trabek, his wife was head of women, and his dick-head son was head Youth. People were taken away under his supervision. He made the list of who goes who stay. Too bad, Sihanouk didn't persuit him from the start which would bring enough witnesses to the stand to convict the man. Remember, in pol pot time, the power this man and his family hold. Anyone who lives under the Khmer rouge knows how powerful that was. Only him and his entire family came out alive from Phnom Penh. They were in Phonom Penh until Vietnam troops rolling into the city's streets. If Hun Sen was really serious about prosecuting Khmer Rouge and a family that sent people to the death chamber, this man and his family should have been prosecuted. See the picture, how he became your Foreign Minister? The same story Thailand told Khmers about Ta Trasok Pheme, Sweet Cucumber. The King was killed because he went to steal a sweet cucumber. I truly think the accent is between Vietnamese and French language. Usually in the case of, if you are a Khmer politician like Sam Rainsy, Rannaridh and king Sihanouk etc.. the accent then would be between Khmer and French because they studied french as well...

Keo Bunthouk who was detained with her husband, former diplomat Ieng Kounsaky, at the Boeng Trabek camp (Section B32 presided over by Hor Namhong) from 1977 to 1979.

how do you distinguish khmer krom from real youn? they all have youn accent! just like khmer surin has siem accent. i think as long as they can speak fluent khmer, the accent thing should be so problematic. but if they speak broken khmer, then they are not real khmer, just foreigners learning to speak khmer. that's all!
10.55 Khmer Surin dont have Siem accent they have ancient Khmer accent. This accent is still be heard in provinces of Cambodia like, Siem Reap, Banteay Meanjay, Mungkul Borey in Battambang, Pursat and and indigenous Khmer in Mundulkiri and Rattanak Kiri.. Of course Khmer Krom are the same they pronounce words accordingly the original khmer. Please note that some Khmer words has evolved into a different consenant.. like from Aksor Chor to Chhor, Tor to Dor. Also new vowels was introduced... to make the words become as a low pitch instead of high. For example the word, DAMREY=elephant- ancient Khmer says TAMREY. The word for a dog these days central Khmer says CHH-KAE ancient Khmer says JKAE.... I These are some of the examples only. So for some proportion of Khmer words Khmer Surin and Khmer Krom have the same pronunciation.. Like the word palm tree.. it is spelled TNAOT not THNAOT. Ancient Khmer says TNAUT... This is what I find Khmer Krom and Khmer Surin Shares ancient way of pronunciation...
Sorry it is too much to explain here about the transformation of the Khmer language, I will write a book about in the near future... So I hope this has help you to understand a bit clearer for you our Khmer language..
