PHNOM PENH — The fifth round of the Viet Nam-Cambodia Joint Committee on Border Demarcation in Phnom Penh on Thursday and Friday resolved to complete land border demarcation and landmark erection by 2012, pursuant to prior agreements between the two countries' leaders.
The meeting was co-chaired by Vietnamese deputy foreign minister Ho Xuan Son and Cambodian senior minister Var Kimhong. Key officials from relevant ministries, agencies and border provinces of both countries also attended.
The officials agreed to increase co-operative efforts to reach six major goals this year, include the definition of at least 100 landmark positions, delineating 500km of border, and completing a switch from the 1:100,000-scale Bone map to the 1:50,000-scale UTM map on the scale – along with the identification of landmark positions on the map – by next month.
The two sides also agreed to jointly publish a set of land-border terrain maps, as well as hasten drafting of a protocol on land border demarcation.
In 2010, the two sides identified 72 positions, built 73 border markers and demarcated 155km of borderline.

Yes, I believe you that Vietnamese always helps Cambodian when we are needed and weakeness, because it is easy for them to take away. For example, treaty 1981, 1983 and 1989. Truely, Vietnamese is an opportunist. They don't fight for it but when the friend in need and weak. It is the time. There are 21 provinces in Kampuchea Krom, Prey Nakor, and Champa. I guess all these lands are given. Moreover, Tea's history (Te ong!) was the Cambodian who gave their heads to the Vietnamese!

I am a Cambodian and I support the government’s effort to protect our western border with Thailand. However, I feel that the government should have also protected the Eastern border with Vietnam based on the Cambodian Map deposited with the United Nation in 1955 which is the only Legal Map, recognized by all nations of the world, that show Cambodia has an area of 181,035 square kilometers. The subsequent border adjustments between Vietnam and Cambodia from 1979 to date was detrimental to Cambodian People via an Unequal Treaties that Vietnam imposed over Cambodia. With these Unequal Treaties, Cambodia lost a few thousand of Kilometers Squares of territory to Vietnam. Therefore, the protection of only the western part of territory was not sufficient, the current government has a fiduciary duty to protect all Cambodian territory including the Eastern Border with Vietnam. The only equitable way to resolve this problem is to follow the 1955 Cambodian Map deposited at the United Nation. Any subsequent Treaties that Adjust the Territory between Cambodia and Vietnam should have been null and void.

= Does AH SVAR KIMHONG understand math at all? Why AH SVAR KIM HONG continue to use his Vietcong monkey logic to fool Cambodian people again and again!.
The fact is the scale of 1:100,000 is much more precise than the scale of 1:50,000! Why switch the scale? Nobody build a house, a boat, or an airplane using different scale because it is dangerous! By the way, the landmark can be moved and changed to different locations all the times! So what landmarks AH SVAR and the Vietcong is talking about? Is it the mountain, the lakes and the rivers as landmark? In fact the Vietcong had created man made river over some Cambodian territories already so that Cambodian people can't cross over to do farming on their land!
Does AH SVAR KIMHONG know why AH HUN SEN dare not use the scale of 1:50,000 in dealing with the Siem thuggish leaders because it would put Khmer Phrea Vihear temple on Siem soil and the stupid Cambodian military will have to with draw their troop from disputed territories!
What I have seen so far is that the Vietcong are behaving like European by using their treaties while AH HUN SEN officials behave like cave people who are willing to sign off or sign on to anything without full understanding of the consequence! It is the European who use the treaties to take what belong to other people including colonized the whole world!
Just say no to the Vietcong illegal border treaties! Cambodia is not in hurry to lose more territories to the Vietcong! Without land Cambodian people will die anyway and to do any Vietcong-AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave border demarcation to steal more land from dirt poor Cambodian farmers will only bring more death and misery to Cambodian people! Cambodian people are not in hurry to die at the hand of the Vietcong!
Beside if the fucken border demarcation are not done the right way and it will only invite more conflict between the Viet and Cambodian! Just put the fucken brake on the Vietcong-AH HUN SEN Vietcong slave border demarcation! The Viet-Khmer border demarcation will be done the right way at the right time and at the right place according to international law!
